In Nexus, some characters may wish to find added protection against enemy attacks. This can be gained in many ways, but the easiest is via armor. A character wearing armor gains a Damage Soak against certain types of damage, lessening the effects of certain attacks. However, the effects of armor are not cumulative- a character wearing multiple types of armor benefits from the highest soak possible, not the different soaks combined. For a comparison table of armor, see the Grand Unified Weapons Armor and Spell Table.
Currently-implemented armors are:
[edit] Mundane Armors
- Leather Jacket - Provies light protection versus some melee attacks.
- Chainmail Shirt - Provides light protection versus melee attacks.
- Leather Cuirass - Provides medium protection versus some melee attacks.
- Plate Cuirass - Provides medium protection against some melee attacks.
- Fireman's Jacket - Provides light protection against some melee attacks and some protection against fire.
- Light Body Armor - Provides light protection against firearms and some melee attacks
- Police Riot Armor - Provides medium protection against melee attacks
- Military Encounter Armor - Provides unrivaled protection (among the mundane armors) against piercing, but is extremely heavy.
- Rusty Armor - Provides light protection against melee attacks.
[edit] Magical Armors
- Rings of Protection - Various magical rings exist to provide a soak to the character wearing them. These are very rare.
- Golden Breastplate - Provides excellent defense against unholy damage.
- Murder Armor - Provides excellent defence against holy damage. However, characters with a good or neutral morality are unable to wear it.
- Turtle Shell - Not exactly an armor, but a spell that grants a soak versus all damage types for 2 hours.
[edit] Innate Armors
- Divine Armor - This Paladin skill provides moderate protection against all attacks, and persists after character death. It also protects against Unholy attacks, although its soak is considerably reduced against attacks of this nature. Its protection gradually increases with character level.
- Chitinous Armor - This is the primary innate armor used by the Infernal Behemoth. It provides varying degrees of protection to different types of damage, with values ranging from excellent to moderate.
- Fire Resistance - While not an "armor" in the classic sense, the Fire Resistance skill possessed by the Elementalist and Infernal Behemoth classes provides an immunity versus fire damage, rendering it completely harmless to anyone with this skill.
- Tattoo of Resilience - This is an innate armor skill that provides good protection against most forms of damage. It is a Nexus Champion skill.
- The Way of Earth - This is a powerful innate armor that provides good overall protection versus most kinds of attacks. It is an Eternal Soldier skill.
- Exoskeletal Armor - This is an innate armor for Wyrm Masters which provides moderate protection against mundane and some elemental damage, but no protection from mystical powers.
- Shadow Armor - Revenant armor which occupies wearable slots, but provides excellent protection against physical and elemental damage, and fair protection against magical damage types.
