[edit] Mission
- Our main goals are listed above, but since the Children were formed, we have found our Mission in defending Wright's Corridor from evil's heavy hand.
- We simply don't have the manpower to fight the Ridleys for control of Wright's just now, but what we CAN do is lend a helping hand to those who need it, and protect the mainland. The more members we get, the more we can do. We have a particular need for enchanters and crafters just now.
- Other than that, we like to help people out. Be nice. Sure, it's the end of the world, but that doesn't mean basic courtesy needs to be chucked out the window.
Cookies out of stock. Time to fight some Demons!
[edit] History and Rivalries
[edit] Founding
- The Children of the Lightbulb were originally founded to counter the large onslaught of evil organizations, in particular DARIS, in the dark early days of the Nexus. They were the brainchild of an engineer named Jaela Daran, the First Brilliance. Jaela brought her associate, Arya Ainsel, the Second, whose penchant for healing would certainly help the faction grow. They also brought in the enigmatic Virus, the Third, to help handle the ruffians who insisted on bothering them. These three established themselves as the Brilliances. Since that time three more brilliances came to light, the mysterious Sorceror Etan , Germolian and Teroph. Although the Fourth's lust for power tarneshed his shine for a time Etan has begun to shine again as a Brilliance.
- Although Jaela has been lost, may she rest in peace, the remaining five brilliances guide the faction as best as they can. Germolian, the Fifth, takes the lead on most beurocratic matters while for the most part the Brilliances work in an equal manner. Arya and Virus act more in advisory roles, but as they knew Jaela and he wishes best, serve the Children well.
- In the early days the Children chose to locate on Wright’s Corridor within easy range of a hospital and a gun store. Our only neighbor was Acta Sanctorum, whom we used for protection for many weeks. Acta Sanctorum eventually left and evil began to come to the peaceful island. The need to repel this evil became readily apparent. The Children leapt to that goal quite quickly. We took most of the island and have been expanding our member base steadily since then.
[edit] Recent History
- While still on Wright's Corridor, we took part in the Alliance against the Axis, sending many to fight and fall and fight again against the onslaught of evil from Northcamp. We have temporarily been driven out of Wright's by the sheer size of our foes - some with more high-powered members than we have members in total, by several times - and are in a period of recruitment and rebuilding.
- We tried relocating to South of Vine, and had a brief but sharp war with the Crypt Lords, and then decided to follow our former enemies, the Axis, who had re-established their various members on Harper's Island. Finding it necessary to increase in size to match the perceived power of the faction, we moved to the Forgotten City in Purgatorio. After that, we moved to Paradise until we could spend our honor. With the onset of the honor store, we purchased a forge and returned to the shores of Wright's, where we sit today.
- Germolian flew off to parts unknown and Scotty, a pacifistic Wizard took his place as the Seventh. Scotty too soon left, called to the plane he referred to as "Real Life", but not before electing five new Brilliances in his stead to guide the Children to newfound glory. Father Mulcahy, a veteran Seraph dedicated to keeping the Children on the path of righteousness became the Eighth. Xiu Li Xiang, an Eternal Soldier with a strong bow arm dedicated to welcoming new members and keeping Wright's a place of (relative) safe haven for goods and neutrals became the Ninth. Tris Decker, a Lightspeaker who can heal and spin a Wheel with the best of them took up the mantle of governing our healers and petmasters as the Tenth. Orbis den Tredje, a whimsical Elementalist governs our forge and spells as the Eleventh. Rick Rinkov, a kilted albino with a head for finance manages our assembly line and commerce with other factions as the Twelfth.
[edit] Rivalries
- Through our time in the Nexus, we have had many memorable battles, raids both by and against us, as well as innumerable single combats. Any faction devoted to evil can expect to find yellow-fletched arrows appearing in the throats of its members, or the sharp and shining edge of a Seraph's sword carving them new holes. But in particular, we have fond memories of our struggles with the Crypt Lords, the Undeadites, -Avengers, and the Soldiers of Duat.
- Due to our willingness to have angels among our members, we have also had some battles with the Ridleytown Resistance Front; given our differing beliefs about the types of people who should be allowed to live in peace on Wright's Corridor, we are fated to meet again someday.
- We also hold a special place in our warmaking hearts for the Wehrmacht, because, well, we really hate Illinois Nazis.
