A Critical Hit is an attack which has dealt extra damage to the target because it has struck a vital location. Critical hits are a unique class feature of the Myrmidon (and thus also the child classes of Eternal Soldier, Nexus Champion, and Revenant).

Critical hits inflict 1.5 times the normal damage of a regular, non-critical hit. The base chance of a critical hit for a Myrmidon is 5% (improvable to 10% with the skill Improved Critical). No other skill, spell, item or enchantment will raise the critical chance.

The critical hit multiplier is calculated last. Thus, any damage bonuses gained from hiding, the character's faction, a Focused Attack, enchantments, skills and so forth are counted together and the total is then multiplied by 1.5. The resulting number is always rounded down (truncated).


Example: a Myrmidon, with a normal Sub-Machine Gun manages to strike a critical hit while attacking someone, no charged attacks used.

(8 + 1) * 1.5 = 13.5, rounded to 13 Hit Points of damage, using 1 Action Point


Another example: A Rifle-wielding Eternal Soldier who has Strong and Elite Attack shoots someone from hiding, using Way of Fire, managing to crit.

Base damage of weapon + Strong Attack + Elite Attack + Way of Fire + Advanced Hide:

(10 + 1 + 2 + 3 + 15 + 8) * 1.5 = 58.5 Hit Points of damage, which is rounded down to 58 with one shot, using ~3 Action Points and 10 Magic Points.
