User is capable of inflicting Poison status on other users. Poison gives a to-hit penalty of -15% to inflicted character, and also deals damage per turn based on level.

You are capable of inflicting a powerful poison on your foes.

This is a Touch Attack that will cause your target to be poisoned if a successful hit is made. Your victim will suffer a lowered chance to hit and will take damage whenever he acts. This attack costs Magic Points to use.

Duration: Defiler poison persists until cured (see below). For non-demons, the effects continue even beyond death. However, for characters of level 10 and below, Defiler Poison will cease to work upon the character's death.

Damage: The damage dealt to the afflicted character per action depends on the character's level. Characters of levels 1 through 9 will suffer 1 Hit Point damage per action, characters of level 10 through 19 will suffer 3 Hit Points damage per action, while characters of levels 20 and higher will suffer 6 Hit Points damage per action.

Experience Gain: If you poison a previously unpoisoned person of your tier, you gain 5 XP. Poisoning a higher tier person gives you 6 XP.

[edit] Curing Defiler Poison

The following treatments are known to cure Defiler Poison:

• A First Aid Kit, applied by anyone
• The Surgery skill, applied by anyone, with or without a First Aid Kit
• The Myrmidon Meditation skill
• The Sorcerer Heal Self skill
• The Shepherd Absolve Suffering skill
• The Shepherd Heal skill
• A Potion of Healing, Vial of Angel's Tears, Stygian Bone Leech, or a Blood Ice
• The healing powers of an Aethersprite
• Death, if the victim is a Demon or a Tier 1 Mortal

Note that neither Lesser Regeneration nor Greater Regeneration will cure the effects of the poison. The Tattoo of Blood effects do not cure it, either. Also note that the Surgery skill and the Shepherd Heal and Absolve Suffering cannot be used on oneself.
