[edit] Who We Are

Demons Without Borders is a faction committed to Mend and Defend. We heal all who are not committed to the path of evil, and protect the innocent from those who would do them harm.

Yes, we are demons.

No, we don't think that all there is to life is hurting people. We've gotten past that. We realize that there's a higher purpose to things than just wading in blood up to your knees and biting the heads off otters. No matter how much fun it may be. Er. And that it is far more satisfying to create than to destroy; to heal than to harm; to protect than to mangle.

We want to help. We will heal the the squishy mortals, the transcended humans, the ascended angels; all who are on the side of helping others and defending the innocent. If you're not either Evil or harmful to the weak and innocent, we will help you.

But we're not tame. When necessary, we can lay on the smackdown with the best (or worst) of our demonic brethren. While we admire the Doctors Without Borders for extending healing to all, and the Reformed Demons Inc for turning steadfastly away from their baser impulses, their ways are not necessarily ours. The decision of whether or not to give up one's powers we hold to be a matter of individual conscience. Most, if not all, of us keep our powers in order to use them in defence of our patients and other deserving souls - and we will not hesitate to use claws and teeth and magics on those who would harm others. When at last the day comes that Good triumphs over Evil and a new day is reborn in the Nexus, we will gladly lay aside our demonic heritage; until then, we retain the option to fight fire with fire.

[edit] How do I join?

Demons who have turned from evil and want to join us as healers can find us in the faction directory and request an invite. Non-demons (sorry, due to the laws of the higher powers of the Nexus, we can't accept angels) who wish to join can also find us in the faction directory. Convenient, eh?

[edit] How do I get safe access?

After requesting and receiving an invite, you'll be an intern. After you join, sign up on our forum for access to our Doctors' Lounge and faction safe. Either that or contribute a lot or otherwise please or amuse Brother Yngvi, our founder.

[edit] Faction Rules on Healing and Harming

  1. Heal mortals; heal neutral and good transcended humans; heal angels.
  2. You may attack demons who follow the path of evil, and evil transcended humans. Transcended humans belonging to demonic (Evil) factions have chosen to associate with the fallen and may be treated as if they are demons themselves. By killing them, you defend the innocent. Squishy mortals who do evil should be reprimanded and encouraged to change their behaviour but may not be killed, even if belonging to demonic factions.
  3. Never harm mortals, good/neutral transcended humans who are not members of evil factions, or angels, even in self-defence. If one attacks you, you may reason with them, heal them, run away, or stand there and let them gain experience on you. Do not raise your claws against the innocent or the ascended.
  4. The ONLY case in which we ever condone attacking a mortal, a neutral or good transcended human, or an angel is when you must do so in order to protect others. Not yourself, note; just others.
  5. Special guideline: We're Good; Not Stupid. If people break into our stronghold with the express purpose of killing us all and taking our standard, we reserve the option to defend ourselves even if they are angels. That said, we prefer to talk to them first and try to make friends. Killing should be the last resort when the stronghold is attacked by non-demons.

[edit] Other Rules

  1. The First Aid tree: get it as soon as possible. We are a healing faction, after all.
  2. Sense Morality is highly encouraged but not absolutely required.
  3. Thursday is Faction Day. Members are encouraged to forage for books to give to the faction petmasters and infusers; they do a lot of hard work and we appreciate it.
  4. Engineers should not turn off power to resource buildings, local faction strongholds, or the power plant. If you see that the power at the plant is off, please turn it back on if you are able.
  5. Roleplay lots and have fun! Talk with people; discuss life, the universe, and everything. Give away neat stuff that you find that's useful to others. (But don't offer to serve tea, as that could be misconstrued.)
  6. Spread the word! Remember our battle cry: For The Squishies!
  7. New Straylight Rule: No DWOB may join a cult of an Evil Power. We are healers. We do not serve gods of death, torment, and pain.
