Flight
From NexusWiki
Flight allows a character to potentially travel faster than walking. Characters that are flying will only spend 1 Action Point per two spaces of movement. You are not charged 1 additional AP if you choose to move diagonally, it still costs only 1 AP.
The character may freely pass over water, lava, and void squares. The character may pass over Barricades as well, but not Wards that may affect him or her. While in flight, characters cannot search or hide in a location. Characters that are flying must land before entering buildings or Portals (including the Sewers). It is not possible to fly inside of buildings or the sewers.
Most flight powers are toggles and consume Magic Points while active. If the character runs out of Magic Points, he or she automatically lands.
It is not advised to let your Action Points or Magic Points reach 0 while flying over a Void location.
A character who is flying using a true form of flight (as opposed to lesser flight) is marked as such on the occupant flyout with a
Flight can be obtained through the following skills:
- Advocate's, Divine Champion's, Lightspeaker's, and Seraph's Wings
- Dark Oppressor's, Infernal Behemoth's, Wyrm Master's Leathern Wings
- Elementalist's Fly
- Lich's Vestige of the Wraith
It is also possible to fly for a temporary amount of time by consuming a Potion of Flying.
When flying, the character suffers some restrictions as to the way he or she can attack other characters and Pets:
- If flying, the character may only attack "grounded" targets with ranged weapons and spells that operate at range.
- The character may use melee weapons (and touch spells) versus other flying characters.
- You can attack with ranged weapons while flying as per normal, without incurring extra flying costs.
When flying, the character is granted some bonuses as to the way he or she can be attacked by other characters and Pets:
- While flying, the character is effectively immune to Area of Effect attacks and spells.
- Characters on the ground may only attack flying characters with ranged weapons and spells that operate at range.
Some powers (such as Cloak of Steel) will not allow the character to fly while using the power.
[edit] Lesser Flight
A form of lesser flight is also available to some classes.
- Divine Champion's Cloak of Air
- Divine Champion's Cloak of Lightning
- Divine Champion's Cloak of the Tornado
- Revenant's Shadow of the Bat
- Wizard's Wisp Form
Lesser flight grants the ability to cross barricades, water, lava, and void. However, the character is still capable of interacting with other characters that are "grounded". It is possible for your character to attack them with hand to hand and melee attacks, and vice versa. It is possible to enter buildings and sewers using a lesser form of flight.
