Hit Points
From NexusWiki
Hit Points, or HP, are a raw measure of a character's overall health. When characters are injured (through any means) their Hit Points are reduced. This generally occurs when an enemy character attacks your character, but it is also possible to receive damage performing other actions. For example, walking in certain planes without Planar Protection, stepping on lava without Fire Resistance, or a failed Alchemy experiment backfires.
If a character's Hit Point total reaches zero or lower, the character dies and must Respawn.
Unlike other game mechanics, Hit Points by default are not restored every 15 minutes.
On the Map Interface, a character's health is represented by a red dot next to their name. This is a quick visual indicator of the character's health: a solid red dot indicates that the character is fully healed, a half-dot that is filled in at the top indicates that the character is injured but is relatively healthy, a half-dot that is filled in at the bottom indicates that the character is injured below half their health, and an empty circle indicates that the character is critically wounded and in danger of dying. If the character possess the First Aid skill, the target character's actual Hit Point total will be visible in the target pane.
[edit] Extending Hit Points
Starting characters have a maximum of 50 Hit Points. Starting at their 10th level, a character will gain an additional Hit Point per level to their maximum total. Thus, at their 30th level, a character can have a maximum of 71 Hit Points.
Skills which further extend a character's maximum Hit Point total:
- Mortal's Stamina (+10 HP)
- Advocate's, Divine Champion's, and Seraph's Grace of Blood (+15 HP)
- Infernal Behemoth's Fiendish Bulk (+15 HP)
- Seraph's Spring of the Enhanced Capacitor (+10)
It is generally not possible for characters to exceed their maximum total. The only current exceptions to this rule are the Seraph's Holy Fury skill and Easter Eggs.
[edit] Recovering Hit Points
There are various items and skills which allow a character to heal themselves or others.
Demons suffer from an innate disability; they are unable to receive healing from other characters. They must provide for their own healing.
Certain Status Effects, such as Agony Curse, will prevent healing until the ailment is treated.
Items which recover a character's Hit Points:
- Food (+1 HP to +3 HP)
- First Aid Kit, Stygian Bone Leech (+5 HP to +25 HP)
- Potion of Healing (+30 HP)
- Blood Ice (+10 HP, causes morality loss in Good and Neutral characters)
- Vial of Angel's Tears (cures certain statuses, non-demons)
- Easter Eggs (+10 HP sometimes, may exceed normal maximum)
Skills which recover a character's Hit Points:
- Sorcerer's Heal Self (+5 HP)
- Myrmidon's Meditation (+5 HP)
- Mortal's Surgery (+15 HP, others only)
- Shepherd's Heal (+30 HP, others only)
- Advocate's Healing Aura (+10 HP, Area of Effect, others only, Good characters only)
- Advocate's Sublime Sacrifice (varies, Area of Effect, others only, Good characters only)
The Lightspeaker's Aethersprite pets can also perform a healing that will recover up to 10 HP. This ability can be increased with the Heart Light skill, allowing their heals to recover up to 20 HP.
The Pariah's Blood Taste allows them to recover HP through the damage they deal to a victim with their Blood Claws. The Revenant's Revenant's Kiss allows them to recover 5 HP for each successful bite.
[edit] Regenerating Hit Points
There are certain items and skills which allow a character to recover a limited amount of Hit Points over a period of time.
Items which recover a character's Hit Points over time:
- Potion of Regeneration (+3 HP / minute)
Skills which recover a character's Hit Points over time:
- Pariah's Lesser Regeneration (+1 HP / minute)
- Infernal Behemoth's Greater Regeneration (+3 HP / minute)
The Nexus Champion's Tattoo of Blood allows them to regenerate 2 additional HP every 15 minutes.
