La Plantación De Cortez is located in the the South Western quadrant of Maquez Island.
[edit] Geography

[edit] Recent History
Due to the lack of areas suitable for a stronghold, La Plantacion de Cortez remains safe from factional conflict.
[edit] Historical Background
The Cortez family has been one of the largest traders in fine tobacco products since the early 1900s. However, like many tobacco farmers in the Principality at this time, they would barely break even from year to year (in no small part because of the exorbitant taxes the government imposed). For many years, they dutifully produced tobacco for sale out of El Porto de Diablo.
After the United States began its embargo on Cuba and the Second Democratic Uprising, demand for Saint Germaine tobaccos exploded. This led to the Cortez family becoming phenomenally wealthy - one of (if not the) richest families in the islands. During this time the grand Cortez Mansion was erected and the family further increased their holdings on the island.
It is estimated that fully 15% of the working poor in the Principality are in some way employed by the Cortez Tobacco Concern.
[edit] Travellers' Tips
Wandering infusers from Magi Anonymous are the most common sight in La Platacion de Cortez, although many who seek to explore the island become tired and try to spend the night in the Cortez Mansion.
