[edit] Location
Maquez Island is located due South of Saint Germaine Island. It is surrounded on all sides by the Caivan Sea, though to the East is the island of Poco Maquez. To the South-West are Big Tease and Little Tease.
[edit] Geography
The bulk of Maquez Island is comprised of tobacco fields and banana orchards, though the crops have all but died. In the center of the island lies Maquez Lake. To the extreme West is the St. Germaine Estate, to the South-West is La Plantación De Cortez, and in the East is the small community of Maquez.
[edit] Recent History
Due to its being a vast empty field, nothing of significance has occurred in this area of Maquez Island for some time.
[edit] Historical Background
Maquez Island was ignored by both the Pirate Kings and the Spanish. It wasn't until the St. Germaine Family purchased the archipelago that it was given purpose: tobacco production. The increased population in the Principality meant that the arable land in Northcamp was dwindling rapidly. Thus, a new set of plantations had to be discovered and farmed, leading to the settlement of the island.
Rudolphus II loved the island for its raw beauty and chose it for the location of the St. Germaine Estate.
With the exception of a brief period during the Second Democratic Uprising and the slow growth of the neighborhood of Maquez, the island has remained unchanged.
[edit] Traveller's Tips
The vast empty fields seem peaceful, but all it takes is one wandering demon or vengeful angel to disturb that. There is nowhere to run to in the open terrain of Maquez Island.
