This is a standard nickel-cadmium battery.

Special: Used to power Bullhorns.

This is a book.
Weight: 1
Special: There is a 40% chance to gain 5 experience points for each book read. This chance can be increased by having the Research skill.
- Depending on the location you search, book varieties typically found in either Valhalla, Paradise or Stygia can all be found in Purgatorio.
There is also a chance that the book will contain a single spell. The spell is determined randomly.
Example: Hidden in the pages of the book, you find a spell! The spell is named (spell name). You carefully pocket the parchment for later examination.
Some rare books also contain parts of alchemical recipes. These scraps of paper will not enter your inventory as items -- you need to write them down. By collecting all the parts of a recipe you will be able to brew a potion, providing you have the Alchemy skill and access to an alchemical workbench.
When you read a book, a message will describe the book's contents. All descriptions start with "You read the book.".

This is a small book of sulphur-tipped matches.

Can be used to light Sticks of Dynamite.

This is a simple voice-amplification device. It requires batteries for use.

Speaking through a bullhorn allows the character's words to be heard clearly one "point" away.
If the character is inside, people outside the current location will hear it clearly, and people in the surrounding squares (outside) will hear muffled voices. If the character is outside, people inside the current location will hear it clearly. In the surrounding squares, people outside will hear it clearly but people inside will hear muffled voices.

This is a standard LED flashlight.

This is a book. It radiates a feeling of peace.
Weight: 1
Special: There is a % chance to gain 10 experience points for each holy book read. This chance can be increased by having the Research skill.

[edit] Magic Marker
This is a thick-tipped, permanent magic marker. It smells foul when you take the cap off.

A Magic Marker can be used to leave messages to other players in the area (much like a Piece of Chalk). A separate text box appears on the interface, allowing the player to type in a message, and then click the "Write Message" Button. The text will then be displayed in the area description to anyone in that square. May be used multiple times (varies).

This is a mobile phone. The signal is sporadic: weak or nonexistant.

The mobile phone can be used to communicate between characters who both hold the item in their inventory for 1 action point.
Each character has the ability to create a phonebook of up to 20 other characters using the targeting pane.

This is a newspaper.
Weight: 1
Reading a newspaper allows you to see Leaderboards for certain characteristics (most locks picked, damage dealt, kills, etc.) It is a one use item. The newspaper also contains a random news article from St. Germaine's past, making them useful to Explorers of the Saint Germaine Principality.

A pack of filtered cigarettes. Smoking these will cause a small amount of damage. This is a one-use item.

Side Effect: 1 Hit Point of damage.

This is a padlock. The combination is printed on a sticker on the back.

This allows you to padlock a building door from the outside. Doing so will cause the padlock to be removed from the character's inventory. Padlocks can be picked using the Lockpicking skill (which will give the character doing the picking a padlock).
[edit] Pair of Binoculars
These are binoculars. They will enable you to view events in other locations.
Weight: 2
Binoculars allow you to look at the events in an area one block around where you are currently standing. A new option appears "Look ____". When you look, you can see who is in the block you looked at, what is there, etc.
[edit] Piece of Chalk
This is a single stick of normal classroom writing chalk.
Weight: 0
Special: Chalk can be used to write a message in areas. A separate text box appears with the "write option" next to it (much like a Magic Marker). May be used multiple times, until it breaks. The number of times it can be used varies.
[edit] Portable Toolkit
This is a well-made canvas bag. It is filled with hand tools of all kinds: pliers, screwdrivers, a hammer, wire cutters, etc.

Characters with the Engineering skill can use a Portable Toolkit to repair or remove power connections for locations. For 15 AP, a character with Engineering skill may create a Portable Toolkit, provided the character is inside an Auto Showroom, Power Plant, Hardware Store, Machinehaus or Factory. Characters with the Repair Item skill can use a Portable Toolkit to repair bows and craft quivers of arrows.

This is a small radio. It has a CD player.

The radio may be used multiple times. When you use it, you get a message starting with *You turn on the radio. There is mostly static, but within its depths, you can make out someone speaking in a monotone voice.

[edit] Set of Lockpicks
This is a standard set of lockpicks. They allow anyone to attempt to open locked doors and provide a bonus to characters with the lockpicking skill.
Weight: 0
A set of lockpicks will allow the character to attempt to pick various locks found throughout the game. If a character successfully picks a Padlock, the padlock will be added to the character's Inventory.
The character does not need to possess the Lockpicking skill to attempt lockpicking; however, the chances of successful picking are low without it.
