This page lists the terrain and building types that are located in the mortal plane that contains the Saint Germaine Archipelago, on the plane of Valhalla.

On Valhalla, all buildings have doors that can be locked, padlocked, broken, and repaired and have electrical connections that can be cut or restored (using the Engineering skill. The power connections of several neighborhoods can be disabled by sabotaging the relevant Power Plant.

[edit] Airport

  • Outdoors: The air here is dominated by the pungent odor of jet fuel. Several large airplanes are parked along the tarmac, bloated birds rotting on the concrete.
  • Indoors: The air here smells faintly of ozone and stale cigarette smoke. Several shops are spaced throughout the terminal halls. Any sound echoes ominously.

There are three airports in the islands, though the most easily accessible one is Hammerstrom Airport, located in Ridleytown. The terminal is three squares high, with a two square runway to the west. The second airport is located at Fort Tague and the third airport is located at St. Germaine Private Airport south of St. Germaine Mansion. The airport has been shut down due to anarchy.

[edit] Apartment Building

  • Outdoors: This building is several stories tall and made of brick. Air conditioning units are visible in many windows. The fire escape is rusted and looks untrustworthy.
  • Indoors: The stairwell here is relatively clean, and the apartments are a bit on the small side but homey.

Apartment Buildings are plentiful throughout the Saint Germaine Archipelago. They are one of four residential building types found in Valhalla. Each apartment building is intended to house many middle/lower class people and their families. Despite the lack of rent, and the lack of janitors, these buildings have been kept in good shape by the inhabitants of the Nexus.

[edit] Auto Showroom

  • Outdoors: Rows upon rows of dead automobiles are parked in ordered rows and the air smells of gasoline. The main showroom is made primarily of glass.
  • Indoors: The inside of the showroom contains a few cheaply-made desks. There are some well-kept, expensive automobiles parked in the showroom. They are non-functional.

Auto Showrooms are full of dead cars. Portable Toolkits may be crafted here.

Items Found

  • Outdoors: This building has no visible windows but appears to be a bar of some kind.
  • Indoors: It has several small tables and chairs as well as a long counter. A pool table is in the corner.

Most bars are located in "The Wrench" and Chuckwagon, but they may be found in select other neighborhoods of the Principality. A pair are located in South of Vine, three are located in Ridleytown, one lone bar is located in Poco Maquez, two are located in El Porto de Diablo, and one is located on Harper Island. All other neighborhoods have not a single bar or nightclub.

[edit] Bridge

  • It is made of rusting steel and crumbling concrete - the salt air has not been kind to it. The wind is rushing loudly over its surface and you can hear its cables strain faintly.

Bridges connect the major islands of Saint Germaine, allowing the free flow of trade, wisdom, and brutal demonic murderers throughout the Archipelago.

There are six bridges in the Saint Germaine Archipelago:

[edit] Cemetery

  • The grass here was once well cared for but is now dead in patches, turning a dull yellow. The gravestones here are blank: there are no names or dates cut into them.

There are three Cemeteries in the islands. One is the Katherine Cemetery (6,2 - 7,2 - 8,2), located in the neighborhood of Northpoint, another is the Eastshore Gardens (30,35 - 30,36), located in the neighborhood of Eastshore, and the third is Southern Cross Cemetery in Edgetown, (36,48 - 39,48). They are a useful location to Liches and Component Gatherers.

  • Outdoors: This is a small building with a domed roof. It has several ornate wood facings and large, strong-looking doors.
  • Indoors: The vaulted cathedral here is dominated by a carved crucifix in the center of the narthex. Several pews have been knocked over.

  • Outdoors: The windows to this store have been boarded up.
  • Indoors: Several low aisle shelves here have been ransacked. Packages of preserved foods have been thrown everywhere. A silent videogame stands in a corner.

  • This lot is covered in dirt and dotted with patches of weed growth. A few bricks and bottles litter the area.

  • Outdoors: This appears to be an industrial factory of some kind.
  • Indoors: The area inside consists primarily of a single large room filled with menacing machinery, rusted and heavy.

Many crafting components can be found here. Further, factories contain forges, useful for crafting items such as swords and armor or repairing many items.

There are several Factories throughout the map. Nearly all of them are located within in the neighborhoods of The Wrench and Chuckwagon.

  • This is area is obviously intended for growing large quantities of vegetables and the like. However, the soil is fallow.

[edit] Fire Station

  • Outdoors: This is a three-story, red-bricked building with a large garage door.
  • Indoors: Despite its outward appearance, this place feels more like a home than one would expect. In the engine bay are parked two hulking, non-functional firetrucks as well as a large assortment of tools.

  • This area is thick with all manner of trees and shrubs.

The forest is a good place to hide at night, considering that most will not bother to search here.

  • Outdoors: The doors to the bathrooms have been broken and hang uneasily. A small shack sits in the center of the lot. The gas pumps are disabled.
  • Indoors: The booth is very cramped, with little space. There is a non-working security camera system here and a rack with several packs of cigarettes.

  • The fairways and greens here are manicured to an eerie perfection - a stark contrast to many areas here.

There are two Golf Courses, the Northpoint Club, located in the neighborhood of Northpoint in the far North of the Saint Germaine Archipelago, and the St. Germaine Club located on the isle of Maquez.

  • This area has obviously been left to the wild. The grass here has grown tall and whispers in the breeze.

There are several Grasslands throughout the Saint Germaine Archipelago. Note that grasslands should not be confused with Idyllic Grasslands, which are located in the plane of Paradise.

[edit] Gunstore

  • Outdoors: This is a single-story, windowless building. The door is made of thick steel.
  • Indoors: Gun cleaning and maintenance tools line the shelves here. The weapons and ammunition are locked up. Some of the locks have been broken. In the back of the shop is a firing range.

All manner of ranged weaponry may be found here, as well as Bottles of Gunpowder for crafting ammunition. Further, gun stores contain gunsmithing workbenches, which allow you to repair firearms with the Repair Item skill and craft firearms with the Gunsmithing skill. You may craft ammunition here if you possess the Repair Item or Engineering skill.

[edit] Hardware Store

  • Outdoors: This small building is painted surprisingly bright blue. The windows here are boarded up.
  • Indoors: The aisles in the store extend all the way to high ceilings, though the contents of the top shelves are infinitely less interesting that that of the lower ones: tools of all shapes, kinds, and uses.

There are several Hardware Stores located in the islands. Hardware Stores are excellent places to find Chainsaws and Portable Toolkits.

  • Outdoors: The brick walls of this seven story structure are painted white and are flaking in places.
  • Indoors: The halls of this building are painted a bland, near-white green. Most floors are populated with rooms containing exotic, non-functional machinery. The emergency waiting room area smells faintly of vomit and urine.

  • Outdoors: The house is a typical two-story stucco affair.
  • Indoors: This is a three-bedroom house with a typical layout. The decor here is eclectic.

[edit] Junkyard

  • This area looks very treacherous. Shards of broken glass, rusted metal, and old tires abound.

There are two junkyards in the Saint Germaine Archipelago. One is in The Wrench at (2,31 - 2,32) while the other, located in Edgetown, is a three-by-three area centered at at 43,45.

  • Outdoors: This is an imposing building built of grey-streaked marble. There are no windows on the first floor. Sheets of paper swirl down the street in the wind.
  • Indoors: Books are stacked haphazardly everywhere. Several archive shelves have been knocked over.

  • Outdoors: It is perhaps two stories high with no windows, though there is a large glass entryway.
  • Indoors: Several shops are found here.

  • Outdoors: This is a very large house with a large, well-kept lawn. The main building has multiple wings.
  • Indoors: The interior is lavishly decorated. Antiques seem to be found in every corner. Most of the furniture here is made of dark-stained wood and is in good condition. The rooms are very large.

Mansions are found on the shores of Northpoint (facing Kate's Bay) and Northcamp (facing the Caivan Sea), and Eastshore next to Copernicus Park.

  • Outdoors: This is a large, open area. Several metallic bivouacs have been erected around the area.
  • Indoors: This area is spartan, and what furniture there is here is simple and metal.

There is only one Military Base in Saint Germaine, Fort Tague. It is located in the bottom-right corner of the mainland.

  • Outdoors: This building is ornately designed, with several minarets and domes apparant along its walls.
  • Indoors: The interior of this building consists of a large, open courtyard, the edges of which are covered by a flat roof supported by brightly painted columns.

  • Outdoors: This building has an atypical architecture and is made of steel and glass.
  • Indoors: The wide halls and large rooms here are stocked with interesting artworks and historical artifacts.

There are three museums open to the Saint Germaine public.

  • Outdoors: This is a large, squat building with no windows.
  • Indoors: This building is really one large room - perhaps a converted warehouse. There is a large dance floor in the center. There are a few tables and chairs.

This is a good place to find alcohol. On the game map, nightclubs are denoted with this icon: Image:Nightclub.png

Nearly all the Nightclubs are located in or near "The Wrench" and Chuckwagon.

[edit] Observatory

  • Outdoors: This is large academic building with a domed roof. You can see that the viewing window has been left open.
  • Indoors: There is a deep and echoing chamber here. The viewing window has been left open, so rain water has managed to collect in the observatory.

There are two known observatories, the Bernard's Cape Observatory and the Lighthouse, both in Wright's Corridor. They are attractive buildings of no known use (unless some day we gain the Craft Astronomical Telescope skill), but well worth visiting to inspect the rain water puddles and look for random hiding people, no doubt.

  • Outdoors: The building is several stories tall and is made of glass and steel.
  • Indoors: The building's floors are filled with empty, cobweb ridden cubicles. The elevators no longer work.

Located mainly around the Northcamp and the Downtown area, these buildings have been in use mainly as an urban jungle to hide in, among which hunters would wander around in circles, get frustrated, and leave.

[edit] Oil Rig

  • Outdoors: The structure is composed of rusty steel and the scent of the air carries a deep tang of petroleum mixed with salt. The rig's pumps are no longer working. Several large machines sit, idle.
  • Indoors: The area is a mess: papers and furniture are strewn about the place. A thin layer of grease seems to coat everything.

There are five oil rigs located in the Webster Oil area. They are located at: 91,62; 83,65; 77,69; 84,72; and 92,71.

[edit] Orchard

  • This area is obviously intended for growing large quantities of flowering trees. However, the area has been untended for what appears to be years, and now the area is filled with dead, dry trees.

The beauty of Valhalla's Orchards have faded with time. They are now a good place to reflect upon the beauty of decay. Beware of drop bears all the same.

  • The grass here is bright and well cared for. Several park benches are scattered throughout the area.

There are seven parks scattered throughout the Saint Germaine Principality. They are:

  • Tebeka Park (14,5 -14,6)

  • Outdoors: The dome of the building has been painted with gold leaf.
  • Indoors: Ornate frescoes decorate the walls in the main hallway. Several offices are here, many of them ransacked.

Parliament is the center of governance of the St. Germaine Archipelago. It is located at (19-20,38-39).

Items Found 

[edit] Pharmacy

  • Outdoors: A cracked sign bearing a caduceus hangs above the door to this squat brick building.
  • Indoors: One of the tall aisles here has been tipped over and its contents (mostly cheap shampoos and grooming supplies) have been spilled. Many of the back-room drug shelves have been looted clean.

There are several pharmacies scattered throughout the Saint Germaine Principality. Spellcasters with the Alchemy skill are able to craft potions in a pharmacy.

  • Outdoors: This is a grey-bricked building about four stories high. The windows are barred. Several non-functioning police cars are parked in front of the building.
  • Indoors: There are several desks, cluttered with paperwork scattered about the place. Wanted posters are tacked up like wallpaper.

  • Outdoors: Power lines radiate from several towers placed round a central building.
  • Indoors: Several large generators sit inside the building.
    • If power exists: The generators are humming loudly and power is flowing to the neighborhood.
    • If power is cut: The generators are not operating and the building is without power.

There are three power plants located on Saint Germaine Island and one on each of the two islands to the south. Each serves a number of neighborhoods, and if the power is cut on one of them, it will black out all of its service area. Portable Toolkits may be created here.

  • Outdoors: The building is painted a peeling, battleship grey. The guard towers loom over the yard, which is poorly tended. What paved areas there are have been cracked through neglect.
  • Indoors: The cells here are empty and have been left in the open position.

There is only one prison in Saint Germaine, San Cristobol Prison, located on the island of San Cristobol.

  • Outdoors: The building appears to be a restaurant.
  • Indoors: Several tables and chairs are placed about the place and there is a large kitchen in the back.

Some restaurants are one-off unique establishments offering a fine dining experience, if you like that sort of thing. Some are chains, such as the delightful and always popular Captain Clucky's.

  • This area was once a grand building of some kind. Now it is packed with rubble and rusting metal.

Ruins in Saint Germaine are limited to Corpus Island, Thunder Island, and supposedly the lost island of Mia Tigua.

  • The runway is cracked, sun-bleached, and fuel-stained. Several windsocks flutter in the breeze.

This Runway once provided the space for fixed-wing aircraft to take off, but now they are pitiful wastes of space. Runways accompany all three airports in the Archipelago.

  • Outdoors: This is a large, red-bricked building with many doors and windows. There is a large, paved playground with a swingset, jungle-gym, and a lonely basketball hoop.
  • Indoors: The classrooms are filled with small wooden and metal chairdesks. Everything seems to be dressed with aged and polished wood.

  • Water surrounds you. It is a clear blue and smells of salt.

[edit] Sewers

  • The air here is choking and foetid, threatening to incite your gag reflex. Murky-green water flows knee-high through the center of the sewer channel. The walls are made of ceramic and are covered in a noxious green slime. There is a hint of methane in the air.

There's not much to say about the sewers except that they stink. The murky depths are rarely visited by the honorable, but are often used as a hiding place by the disreputable.

  • Outdoors: This is a smallish building made of brightly painted and carved wood. The grounds are a well-tended and aesthetically pleasing garden.
  • Indoors: The inside of the shrine is made of polished and painted wood. Several brass statues are placed along the walls and a large statue dominates the center. Hundreds of candles are spread in front of it, all unlit.

The single Shrine in the Saint Germaine Archipelago is Mishikawa Gardens, located at (11,23). It is similar in function to a Church or a Mosque.

  • Outdoors: This building is several stories tall and is made of a dirty, natty brick covered in illegible graffiti. Most of the lower windows are broken or boarded up. The area smells faintly of urine.
  • Indoors: The hallways of this building are filled with trash. Every surface seems to be covered by either graffiti or some sort of unidentifiable stain. Several areas have been scorched.

Items Found 

[edit] Stadium

  • Outdoors: "The outside of the stadium consists almost entirely of a large parking lot. There are a few, non-functional cars parked haphazardly across its acreage."
  • Indoors: The inner area of the stadium is dominated by a large astroturf field. The bleachers are made of anodized aluminum and concrete.

There is a single Stadium in the Saint Germaine Archipelago. It is located in Ridleytown, and it occupies four tiles; (7,19); (8, 19); (7,20); (8,20).

  • Outdoors: This is a single-story building made of orange-red brick. The small parking lot contains several non-working automobiles. There is a glass entryway, but it has been boarded up.
  • Indoors: There are aisles of canned goods and other foodstuffs here.

This is a good place to find food, alcohol and various mundane items. Someone must restock the shelves, as fresh fruit still remains, and canned goods remain to be looted.

  • Outdoors: The grounds, once immaculately manicured, are now overgrown. Several park benches dot the area.
  • Indoors: The interior classrooms are filled with cheap chair-desks made of wood and plastic.

There is only one University in the Principality, Northcamp University located in Northcamp. The university was made famous by the Northcamp Slasher slayings.

Items Found 

[edit] Warehouse

  • Outdoors: This building is two stories high and very large. Grime-covered windows are set high - perhaps to let light into the cavern it contains.
  • Indoors: The inside of this building is a single room. It is filled with crates and boxes, many of which have been opened.

Warehouses are located in the Chuckwagon and on Harper Island.

  • Water surrounds you. It is a clear blue.

There are two fresh water bodies in the Saint Germaine Archipelago. One is Clifton Lake, located in the neighborhood of Clifton, the other is Maquez Lake, located on Maquez Island.

  • The cages and and animal pits here are empty, and bits of trash - handbills, mostly - blow in the wind.

There is one Zoo in the Principality, the Northcamp Zoo, located in the neighborhood of Northcamp.
