Nimbus

The Nimbus is the formal name for the plane of existence that lies among the clouds above Paradise. It is the holiest of holy places, and is accessible by climbing magic beanstalks that grow out of the grasslands of Paradise.
The Nimbus is composed primarily of several large "islands" that are, as far as anyone can tell, made of solid "cloud". These clouds are known as the Firmament, and are connected by several Rainbow Bridges. People obviously once lived and thrived in the Nimbus, as small settlements dot the plane.

While the cloud "islands" floating in the Nimbus are connected via Rainbow Bridges, access to the Great Gear requires some form of flight power.
The firmament - the "cloud" layer - is considered to be "water" for the purposes of the Elementalist skill Water Breathing.

[edit] The Great Gear
In the center of the Nimbus floats an enormous clockwork gear. It is so large that it is home to several buildings and homes.
Once, the gear turned, but no longer. There remain no records of what its purpose was.
[edit] The Crystal Castle
In the north east of the Nimbus, in Nga Atua, lies the Crystal Castle. It is a large building made entirely of gemstone sheets. Long abandoned, no record remains of its original occupants, though some say that it was once home to Alonai herself.

The Nimbus is home to the great Lightning Generator - a machine whose greater purpose is unknown. It still works, however, and when used, lightning strikes the lands below.
