A Map Showing the Northcamp Area

Northcamp is a neighborhood within the Saint Germaine islands. It is located on Northcamp Island, and is split between being an upper-middle class residential neighborhood and home to the "Northern Downtown" commerce center of the Principality. Both Northcamp University and the Northcamp Zoo are located here as well.

[edit] Recent History

Northcamp remains the domain of unaligned factions. Their rule over Northcamp has not been challenged in recent months.

Previous to this, the Axis of Evil ruled the area. The Axis was expelled from the island after their defeat at the hands of nearby local factions.

[edit] Historical Background

In the late 1600s the region of Northcamp Island that would become the neighborhood of Northcamp was only slightly less famous than Blackport as being a pirate haven: Kate's Bay was considered a secure place for sheltering between raids throughout the Bermuda Triangle. A small village, Tebeka, was founded there and prospered for a time (as much as a village can prosper doing business with pirates).

In the mid-1700s, however, after the area was conquered by the Spanish armada, the settlement of Tebeka switched focus from providing succor to the pirate kings of the Caribbean to one of agriculture. Huge swaths of the Northcamp forest were laid bare as the islanders planted tobacco - a crop much in demand throughout the rest of the world.

For close to two hundred years, Northcamp provided the agricultural base for the islands of Saint Germaine, with one small interruption during the First Democratic Uprising. However, by the early 1900s, tobacco sales from Saint Germaine had slacked off due to competitors in Cuba and other island-nations. Finally, a hurricane in 1925 sealed the deal, destroying a whole year's crop.

This granted the King-Regent with an overabundance of land. The government began selling land to wealthy citizens at this time, advertising it as prime real-estate. Over time, much of the area become infused with money - the "nobles" of Saint Germaine wishing to be as far away from the poor folk as possible.

In 1942, Northcamp University was founded, and in 1961 the King-Regent ordered the construction of the Northcamp Zoo.

In the 1970s, corporate interests began buying land at the mouth of Kate's Bay, creating a second "down town" area.

Over the summer of 1983, the area was paralyzed with fear due to the actions of the Northcamp Slasher, a serial-killer who preyed upon the female students of the university. The slasher racked up a total of 12 kills and was never caught.

[edit] Travellers' Tips

Those who are allies of the Crypt Lords of Hashaa, Warseers, Legion and Eternals may find a night in Northcamp to be relaxing. Any who is not an ally of those factions will likely not survive long enough to even get a taste of Northcamp.

Northcamp University is a popular place to hang out, being next to both a museum and a hospital and within easy distance of a weapon store and a police department in nearby Iverson. However, this also makes it an exceedingly dangerous area; Melee fighters eager to try out the swords they found in the museum are rampant throughout the neighborhood, and Northcamp is a prime stomping ground for them. It is strongly suggested that you NOT sleep in Northcamp, as it will almost certainly be the death of you. The houses and mansions to the north-east sector are a bit cozier for hideouts, but they are still a far cry from guaranteed safety.

If you're down on health and feeling lucky, you could do worse than parking your character in the hospital for an hour or two. Medics pass through almost constantly, and will be quite willing to patch you up for the experience. Do be warned, though, that some evil characters also like to frequent the hospitals in search of wounded prey.
