[edit] Welcome to Ridleytown

Peaceful Ridleytown. The trees are swaying, the birds are singing, and Little Jimmy is outside melting ants with a magnifying glass. All is well in this idyllic little suburb of the St. Germaine islands.

But wait! Suddenly, a loud noise in the distance. The wind stops--the birds sit silent in anxious anticipation. Little Jimmy keeps melting the ants, though. The noise comes closer...closer! The birds cry out and flee. The ants scurry to their subterranean strongholds, fearful of a menace even more terrible than The Great Sun-God. Jimmy sits oblivious, magnifying glass in hand, puzzled at the approaching ruckus and the absence of his targets. The noise grows louder. Louder. It's deafening! Louder still! The magnifying glass drops from Jimmy's hands, shattering on the ground as its owner covers his ears in horrified awe! The sound stops. All is silent. It is as if the world itself were waiting for...

A CAR! Holy shit! A vintage 1971 Pinto comes sailing through the air! Jimmy is crushed immediately by this terrible flying deathtrap, followed in short order by this once-serene island paradise. The angels are coming, one bystander cries, but it is too late! A Divine Champion bursts into the narrative, locked in a struggle to the death with an Infernal Behemoth. Ridleytown never stood a chance. Crumbling under a barrage of fireballs and Mazda Civics, nobody survives the carnage.

Except one. From the smoking rubble and ash of Ridleytown, a blood-streaked hand emerges. A man--roguishly handsome, with the bone structure of a Brad Pitt or an Eric Bana--crawls out from the broken landscape. He cries out: "Arise, my fellow mortals! Arise, and let us take our revenge upon these non-mortal partisans! Too long have we stood idly by while our homes were destroyed by the forces of good and evil! Too long have we watched in numb horror at the slaughter in the streets! Too long has our fine architecture been ruined by airborne Miadas! Let us REBEL!" A rifle in hand, this daring mortal walks down the street after the feuding beasts.

Tentatively, the survivors begin to follow him.

The Resistance is born.

[edit] The Ridleytown Resistance Front

The Ridleytown Resistance Front is dedicated to freeing St. Germaine from its extra-planar invaders, no matter their alignment. Their spiritual home is the Island of Ridleytown, where the fight for humanity began.

The Ridleytown Resistance Front promises not to take part in any activities such as Zerging, Alt-Spying, Multis, and Safe Thievery. It would be much appreciated if people refrained from doing the same to us.

The RRF is - and has always been - about good, clean undead fun.
And honour.
And Squaredancing.
And BARHAH!

[edit] Thinking of joining the RRF?

The RRF is an open, neutral faction. That implies that you stick to the unaligned classes - no angels or demons here.

Joining the RRF is simple. Simply click join, and you'll be instantly transported to a world of squaredancing and the undead.

And for new players, we offer the best help the Nexus has to offer: the RRF Academy.

[edit] Ridley

You will gain the benefit of a nice +3 damage faction bonus, great ward, safe home, zombies to talk to and play with and the pride of being the best humanity has to ffer.

As a Ridley, you will not have many responsibilities, and you'll be free to do whatever you wish. Now, getting the +3 bonus is not easy, and requires lot of work from our organised groups. Hence, for this reason, kiddos will not have safe access.

[edit] Cousin

We, the RRF, need more active participation in our various groups in order to remain an effective group. This doesn't mean that one has to spend a lot more time on the game, or get involved in the IRC or anything, but safe access is going to be reserved for those who contribute in some form or fashion to our larger operations. Take a look around our recruitment forum, and see if anything catches your eye.

Joining any of the units listed in the thread will elevate you to Cousin status and get safe access as a privilege of membership, and access to a private forum, for all your inter-horde needs (swapping spells, weapons, insulting Undeadinator, you name it).

Membership in the Reserves and the Home Guard means a very low level of participation, but you will be serving a vital function for the horde overall. Members of the Assembly Line will only have to keep fixing and crafting away to keep our supply of weapons and ammunition up. Members of the Medical Association will have to keep our troops patched and healthy. Members of the Strike teams will have tons of fun and be the hammer of the RRF. Then, there is the Infusion squad, that keeps our beloved faction bonuses secure. Finally, for those looking for a dedicated experience could look at the Scavengers. This will demand a lot out of you, but you will be benefitting the horde more than most others.

You will have responsibilities, should you wish to be a Cousin. Of course, we leave the decision of what we expect from you, on you.

[edit] Uncle

Uncles are the old guard of the RRF. Leaders, beloved old timers, strike team leaders, they're all are Uncles. Some shoulder the responsibility of running the horde, while some have been with the horde for over an year and have been thus honoured. Know them well, for you will interact with them often.

[edit] Papa

Petrosjko is the Papa of the RRF and the de facto leader of our great faction - think of him as a benevolent dictator. As the life of tequila, fine cigars and fast women can be a time consuming one, Petrosjko has appointed Patrucio, the mighty Lich as Papa, with full authority in Petrosjko's absence.

[edit] Teams

Organisation is important in any well run horde. We have strike teams and service teams. While strike teams enforce our will, the service teams ensure that the horde works like a well oiled machine. Without the service teams, the strike teams would be impotent. Joining any of the teams will elevate you to Cousin status and will give you access to the safe.

[edit] Assembly Line

The Assembly Line is the furnace that keeps the RRF juggernaut in motion. Gunsmiths, Armorsmiths, Swordsmiths, Bowyers, Transcribers, Alchemists, Enchanters and Materials Collectors are all part of the Assembly Line. They work behind the lines, but their efforts are all too telling when the Strike Teams attack.

Here at the Assembly Line, it is our Committment to QualityTM that both attracts so many fresh-faced young Crafters and keeps our customers coming back, again and again. Let's look at our record:

  • Guns: Assembly Line Guns are built to exact Swiss specifications with only the most modern of equipment, ensuring a dead sight and flawless action every time.
  • Bows: Hand-made and tested exhaustively under realistic field conditions, our bows come with a guarantee of strength, durability and precision when the chips are down.
  • Swords: Ancient Damascan know-how and futuristic laser-etching technology are combined to give the most well-balanced and razor-sharp swords around.
  • Armor: Often imitiated, but never duplicated, every piece of Assembly Line Armor is lab-tested by seeing how well it protects gorillas from automatic weapons fire.
  • Scrolls: The quality of our scrolls speaks for itself: It has been 102 days (and counting!) since an Assembly Line Scroll caused Fatal Cranial Explosion (FCE.)
  • Potions: The Assembly Line was the first to both meet and exceed federal regulations governing the parts-per-million count of rat feces allowed in magical elixers.
  • Enchantment: We lead the industry in the practice of rending the aether from the cosmos and investing it into crude physical forms. We also have Casual Fridays.
  • Collection Division: None of the above would be possible without our dedicated and professional staff of collectors, who scour the world for only the finest ingredients.

[edit] Ridleybank Medical Association

The RMA keep our family healthy. Our faction has the unique distinction of having the top 4 of 10 healers in the game. Don't believe me? Check the Leaderboard!

Have you ever wanted to go to a med school that isn't in a hospital? Do you like helping people who carry around big guns and shoot people you dislike? Have you ever wanted the prestige and satisfaction of knowing you saved the life of some deranged lunatic, and that after you fix her up she's going to leave the apartment you work out of and go on a killing spree?

If fly-by-night Med Schools and providing back-alley operations for people of questionable morality is the sort of thing you've always dreamed of, then the Ridleytown Medical Association is the organization for you! The RMA is the full-service medical arm of the RRF. From doing runs through seedy neighborhoods for badly-needed medical supplies, healing injured friends and allies from the safety of your own stronghold, or joining strike teams as a combat medic, the RMA has a job for you.

Thinking of joining the RMA? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), apply in this thread.

[edit] Ridleytown Infusion Squad

The RIS keeps RRF territory and bonuses secure. Members can also volunteer for special missions in which we make creative use of infusion to support the horde and plague our enemies.

All you need to join is the ability to infuse, or Psychometry. (And there is a special place in the RIS for scouts with Psychometry, believe me.) Since infusion gives no XP, I definitely don't expect you to do nothing but infuse. Unless we're carrying out a special mission, there'll be plenty of time for you to kill things or whatever. Also, there's no requirement to be on at a certain time, although for special missions in the future we may coordinate more through the forums or IRC.

Thinking of joining the RIS? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), apply in this thread.

[edit] Group 1

Think of Group 1 as the RRF's Alpha Company. A loose group of free-roaming individuals - you will however be called to duty when the shit hits the fan.

Barhah fellow Ridley's! Group 1 is the rolling ball of squardancing chaos that epitomizes the RRF. We shambled around across Malton all the way to the Sea and back, opening up barricaded buildings and giving a helping claw to many a feral along the way. We have sacked countless malls and supported the great warlord xyu in the Mall Tour.

Now we will be touring across St Germaine to rid our harman plane from the monsters that have invaded. We love to squaredance, and cause choas. We don't have any specific times of operation, we're just the main chaotic mass of the RRF, so don't let any timeframe hold you back. If you don't know or don't care about GMT, that's fine. All Ridley's are welcome in Group 1. Group 1 is led by me, Al Smith in the RRF, and has Jack Destruct, Promethia in the RRF as it's Cappo in case I'm not around. You can join by faction mailing or PMing me or him, or by posting your profile in this thread. Feel free to contact one of us at any time.

Group 1 is supported by our Strike teams, the Ridley Riot Act that run between 0200-0600 GMT, the Night Owls, who leave the nest between 0800 and 1200 GMT, the Shadow Wolves wich run from 1400-1800 GMT, and The Constables wich run at about 2100 GMT. If you want to be a part of Group 1 and can make a solid time commitment, join one of these fine teams. Head to the Night Owls, or RRA, Shadow Wolves, or Constabulary recruitment threads and make a post to join one of our strike teams. While you wait on the Strike team to get a hold of you, post your profile in this thread to get safe access and Group disignation rapidly.

For everyone else simply post here with your profile and shamble forward with us into the far corners of St Germain and help spread barhah and Chaos with the rest of your brothers and sisters. St Germaine is for the harmanz, join us and become part of protecting our home plane. Being in a Group confirs safe access and will get you the cool faction mails regarding the Groups current mission and other important information. Onward brothers and sisters, for Ridleytown, for BARHAH, and for the Harmanz!

Thinking of joining Group 1? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), apply in this thread.

[edit] The Constabulary

The Constabulary is the biggest, craziest RRF strike team around. Although we may be constables, think of us as thugs with badges. You can find us in the fray fighting for in the great name of BARHAH by slashing, punching, and shooting monsters, like angels and demons.

BARHAH! This is The Constabulary, we are here to consume your souls and piss on your dreams, MAHAHAHAHA! Ok, not really. I am FunkMcBogey, the Chief Constable and our mission statement is simple; promote the general welfare of the RRF, defend the RRF safehouse, protect RRF members from harm, and safeguard all of greater Ridleytown from threats foreign or domestic, whether they be angelic, demonic or human in nature. Our attack time will fall between the hours of 21:00 GMT and 22:00 GMT. We use IRC to cooridnate our strikes. From there I issue orders in the field because as we all know combat situations are time sensitive. But I always have one order everyone can follow, dont die. If you break this order I will murder you twice over!

Thinking of joining the Constabulary? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), apply in this thread.

[edit] Ridley Riot Act

This team is led be led by DrSnatch. They studied Naval Warfare, Jousting, Minimalist Art, and Who Cares About Protagonists and Antagonists, Kill 'Em All. Coming to a neighbourhood near you soon, so be careful.

The Ridley Riot Act are the RRF's 0400 GMT strike team. The RRA knocks on the doors with shotguns, looking for Angelic and Demonic monsters who need to get out of Saint Germaine. So grab your rifle, grab your booze, and join in on the Riot.

Thinking of joining the RRA? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), apply in this thread.

[edit] The Shadow Wolves

Run by Sult Isti, this team is the first team churned out of the RRF School of St. Germaine. There they studied History, Biology, Neutrality, Stabbing, and Killing The Outer Demon.

We are a elite strike team. One of the first if not THE FIRST Nexus War Strike Teams churned out. Our favorite past time is killing in as large quantities as possible. The Wolves have just finished a change in schedule, and have moved to the 1400-1800 GMT timslot. Post here if you can make a time in this window and are interested in joining a strike team.

Thinking of joining the Shadow Wolves? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), apply in this thread.

[edit] The Night Owls

Led by Glass Zambah, the NightOwls are one of the RRF's first (if not the first) strike teams, originaly formed durring the First Siege of Caiger Mall in Malton. The NightOwls are an all singing, all dancing precision killing machine that comes for demons, angels, and anyone else that looks tasty in the night.

Yo! GZ here, leader of the Night Owls, one of the old school teams. Originating from the first Siege of Caiger Mall in Malton, the Owls are specialists in killing Angels and Demons that stand in our way, and having fun while doin' it...and of course, the RRF's favorite pass time: Squaredancing!

As a member of the Night Owls, you'll be expected to be able to raid between 0800-1200 (GMT), most likely in the later half of that timeslot, and be willing to work in a team of some of the craziest people you're ever likely to meet. We're good people! Really! We just like killing angels and demons!

If you wanna join up with us, please post to this thread and include your character's name and profile link. Let's give these monsters hell, people! Hoot hoot, motherfuckers!

Thinking of joining the Night Owls? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), apply in this thread.

[edit] The Desert Rats

The Desert Rats kept Rommel off balance and helped turn around British fortunes at Tobruk. They now bring this ingenuity to the Nexus.

Our group is looking for a few good Mortals and Sorcerors who are interested in pursuing Total War against our enemies. The Corps of Engineers will be organised like a strike team, but with a focus on engineering activities rather than murder.

The primary requirement is the Engineering skill, although troops will be expected to fill that out with other related skills as they level up, among others which will be listed in the welcome mail. Due to the nature of our mission, we will take only spell-casting characters. Nexus Champions may be accepted, but are low-priority.

Thinking of joining The Desert Rats? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), apply in this thread.

[edit] The Barhah Brigade

The Barhah Brigade is a black-ops unit, doing what needs doing, where it needs doing, with nobody the wiser. They are Petrosjko's grasping claw, the RRF's outstretched fist.

The Barhah Brigade is the RRF's "black operations" force. The Brigade is a highly-coordinated group of operatives whose missions range from simple safehouse murderizing to long-range scouting to crack-and-recon to assassinations to high-profile target assessment and elimination to hunter/killer to anything else required.

There are days where the missions are very bloody. There are days where your mission will be "attack no one but stay here and get killed." There are days where the mission is nothing more than "Keep the wards on this stronghold with over 400 people in it open for an hour while we stuff people inside."

Do you think you have the discipline? Do you want to learn how to crack wards in less than 30 seconds? Are you willing to be conservative in AP usage? Are you willing to truly be part of a team? Can you throw away personal glory and recognition, knowing that your efforts will rarely (if ever) be publically acknowledged? Do you want to travel to far-away places, meet interesting people, and kill them?

Many apply. Few are chosen.

Thinking of joining the Barhah Brigade? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), apply in this thread.

[edit] RCIA

RCIA is the intelligence gathering service of the RRF.

We are the eyes and ears of the War Council. From the collecting and deciphering of intel and methodologies of strategic manouvers to be overviewed by the Council, to voluntary and deniable "black-projects". The RCIA can handle an array of objectives.

Recruitment policies: Anyone may request to join the RCIA, but only those with a proven, long-standing and loyal relationship with the RRF will be considered. All recruitment for the RCIA is handled privately, (Through PMs), for this, you may contact either kibbs, or Orphen. The Recruitment process will take a few days as recruits will be vetted.

Thinking of joining the RCIA? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), read the instructions above.

[edit] RSOG

RRFSOG does recon work for the RRF. That is we would if we werent a figment of your imagination.

Bored with the same old routine? Tired of watching that new coat of SH paint dry? Have brass balls so big the RRF needs a seperate warehouse to store them in? Than the new RRF SOG is the group for you.

The SOG roster is highly classified, any members that publically admit their involvement will be removed from the roster. All of our current openings are for recon team members, although other positions might open up in the future.

We need characters of all types, not just combat oriented. Teams do not require time coordination meaning you can move whenever works for you. Teams rotate one week on - one week off meaning you will still have plenty of time to pursue your character development goals. Recon work requieres discipline but the work is important and rewarding. Plus unlike other teams you get half the time off.

Thinking of joining the RSOG? Once you've signed up and joined the RRF (see above), read this thread and follow the instructions in the Manila envelope.
