Respawn
From NexusWiki
When a character takes more damage than he has Hit Points, he dies. The physical shell falls lifelessly to the ground leaving a corpse and the character's spirit rises up to mingle in the Void.
In order to return to the world, the character must respawn. The soul leaves the Void, heads back to the world, and rejoins the fight.
If a character drowns in the water or loses their footing on a chain, they will also need to respawn. It is also necessary to respawn if your character is a Pariah that performed an Explosive Murder or an Advocate that performed a Sublime Sacrifice.
Characters that die may lose some of their items or have them suffer from death decay.
If the character is mortal, respawning will cause a new physical shell to form. This is known as an aspect. Each time a mortal dies and respawns, a new aspect is created. Aspects may be male or female, and it is possible for a formerly male character to return as a female (there is a preference option to change this behavior).
If the character has ascended to Angelhood or descended to Demonkind, they will return to the world in either an angelic or demonic form.
Respawning is difficult on the soul, and costs 1 Action Point per character level. That is, a 5th level mortal will spend 5 AP to respawn and a 15th level Shepherd will spend 15 AP to do the same thing. There are no methods to modify this cost and it is likely that there never will as it is one of the fundamental laws of existing in the Nexus.
A character that respawns will find themselves in a randomly determined location. If they are Tier 1 they will always respawn somewhere in Valhalla. Tier 2 characters have a 33% chance of respawning on their home plane, and Tier 3 characters have a 66% chance of the same.
