[edit] History
Kris was taking a quick trip to the hardware store for some building supplies when his sleigh unexpectedly overturned in a snowstorm over Canada, and he awoke here in the Nexus. Finding himself on the doorstep of Doctors Without Borders, he joined their troop while he regained his strength. But with the months until the end of the year ticking away, he was overwhelmed with the need to set up his workshop and get back to business. So Kris called as many of his loyal helpers to him as he could, and Santa's Village was born... er... reborn!
[edit] Policies
Kris has long been a proponent of peace, but he finds that the Nexus is a place of bloodshed and daily horrors. In an attempt to provide a safe haven for the children, he has found it necessary to build a stronghold around his village. However, he does not wish to keep out weary travelers or any of the good little boys and girls of the Nexus. He only wishes to keep out the naughty ones. As such he has developed a few methods that citizens of the Nexus can use to gain entrance to his village.
Join the faction
Joining the faction will warrant you immediate access to the safety of the village. Your title of "Honored Guest" will not grant you safe access, but you will have unlimited access to the comfy chairs and the fireplace, search bonuses, all the potions and leather cuirasses you can hold, and the occasional piece of lore if luck smiles upon you. If our guests grow so numerous as to negatively affect our bonuses, we will bump citizens out of the faction in the order that they arrived - but this is not a subtle hint that you have to leave the safety of the village. Stay as long as you wish.
Wait for an Opening
We will periodically drop the magical ward that protects the village, to let in those citizens who for various reasons are unable or unwilling to join the faction. The exact method of finding out when we will do this can be found by following the instructions here.
Break In
We sincerely hope that you will not do this, as it puts the entire village (yourself included) at risk. However, if there is no other way and you have the muscles, you will not be ostracized or gored by the reindeer if you use this method to gain entrance (unless you are naughty). You had better bring some goodies with you, though. To bribe the reindeer.
[edit] Structure
Old Saint Nick: The man in red himself. He is the de facto leader of Santa's Village, since if you leave the elves in charge they end up drinking all the egg nog and making 12 million wooden choo-choo trains with square wheels. Never again, declares Kris!
Elf-in-Chief: These are Kris's most trusted advisors. Elves or even extraordinary humans that have proven their mettle time and time again, and seem resistant to the relentless call of the Nog. He trusts their decisions like his own.
Honorary Elf: Being an elf is generally a matter of birth, but occasionally a human will prove themselves to be worthy of the revered title. These brave men and women are not afraid to leap in amongst the elves, and build an Xbox 360 using only a wood chisel, a hammer, a bag of sterilized sand, and an acetylene torch. When Kris says "we're cancelling all breaks until Christmas", the honorary elf says "Yippee! More time to make toys!!"
Honored Guest: The honored guest is exactly as it sounds. Despite his busy schedule, Kris loves company! He welcomes anyone to join him in Santa's Village to research lore, find enough chainmail shirts to armor a horse, or drink a few dozen potions. Take a seat by the fire, grab a cup of nog, and maybe Kris will tell you a tale or two.
[edit] Services
Kris is still developing his export services at this time. Once he recruits enough enchanters and crafters to come to Santa's Village, he hopes to open a retail wing of the family business. In exchange for supplies and components, he will provide much needed armors, weapons, and enchanted jewelry to help support the war effort against the forces of naughtiness.
[edit] Diplomacy
Kris and his crew are strong believers in the power of diplomatic relations. They hope that any concerns, questions, or trade agreements can be addressed here.
