Status Effect

Status Effects are timed alterations to some part of a character. Some Status Effects are beneficial, and some are harmful. Status Effects can be invoked by using spells, drinking potions, or using class abilties.
All Status Effects are listed in the upper right corner of the window. At the very far right end of The Character Box, under the Disconnect and Buy Skills buttons, will be the character's current Status Effects.

Status Effect Text: Agony Curse
Effect: Victim unable to accept healing; Victim loses 1 MP per action; Victim at -10% attack; Victim suffers extra damage per successful hit
Duration: 12 Hours
Notes: This is an effect applied to a target through the use of the Dark Oppressor power, Agony Curse.

Status Effect Text: Blood Frenzy
Effect: +15% to-hit and +2 damage to all attacks, -25% defense.
Duration: Toggle (5 MP + 1 MP/Min + 1 MP/AP)
Notes: This status effect is applied to Revenants when using the Blood Frenzy toggle power.

Effect: +5 damage and a +10% to-hit to all attacks.
Duration: 5 Minutes (time stacks with multiple kills)
Notes: This status effect is applied to Infernal Behemoths with the Bloodlust ability whenever they execute a killing blow or use a Blood Ice.

Status Effect Text: Defiler Poison
Effect: 1, 3, or 6 HP damage per AP used, depending on victim's tier. and -25% to-hit to all attacks.
Duration: Until cured (or death, in the case of demons)
Notes: Defiler Poison is inflicted by a Defiler using the Poison skill. It persists even after death, except in the case of demons. See the descriptions for Defilers and Poison for more information.

Status Effect Text: Demoralize
Effect: -10% to-hit penalty for all characters, Search/Hide Penalty based on Victim's tier - 5% penalty for Tier 1, 10% penalty for Tier 2, 20% penalty for Tier 3.
Duration: 5 Hours
Notes: This status is applied after a successful hit from a Defiler using the Demoralize skill.

Effect: 10% dodge penalty and a 10 point soak penalty

Notes: This status is applied after Ukkuhr-Makhai performs his stomp attack.

Status Effect Text: Drunk.
Effect: -5% to-hit; + 1 damage with Hand to Hand and Melee attacks
Duration: 3 AP
Notes: Drinking Alcohol will cause the character to become drunk.

Effect: +15% to-hit to all Ranged attacks.

Status Effect Text: Electrical Immunity
Effect: Grants complete immunity to electrical damage.
Duration: Five Hours

Status Effect Text: Encumbered
Effect: Inability to perform any action other than dropping items from their inventory.
Duration: The character will be unable to move or act until they have reduced the weight of the equipment they are carrying.
Notes: It is not possible to force another character into an encumbered state by trading items.

Status Effect Text: Extended Invisibility
Effect: The character is invisible.
Duration: 8 Hours
Notes: This status is applied whenever the character drinks a Potion of Extended Invisibility. Its effects will expire if the character attacks another character or uses a spell of any kind.

[edit] Flying
Status Effect Text: Flying
Effect: This allows a character to move two spaces for one AP. Characters may move across lava, water, and void spaces. Characters may fly over barricades, but not wards that may affect the character. Characters that are flying may attack grounded characters with ranged spells and weapons, and can attack other flying characters with melee attacks and ranged attacks. Characters in flight are immune to melee attacks from grounded characters and Area of Attack spells and attacks. Characters may not enter/leave buildings, portals, or sewers while in flight.

Notes: This status is applied whenever an Advocate, Divine Champion, Lightspeaker or Seraph uses the Wings skill; a Dark Oppressor, Wyrm Master or Infernal Behemoth uses the Leathern Wings skill; a Wizard uses Wings of the Magus; or when the character drinks a Potion of Flying.

Notes: This status effect is applied whenever a character picks up a Heavy Item (such as a car or boulder). Characters are not normally enabled to lift heavy items; however the Divine Champion powers Cloak of Steel, Cloak of the Carbon Core and Cloak of Titanium allow for this.

Status Effect Text: Hidden
Effect: The character is hidden and cannot be seen by normal means. Searching may reveal the character.
Duration: Until any action is taken from the map screen
Notes: Hiding conceals the character from normal sight. There are a number of ways to counteract hiding, such as certain skills, spells, and searching. Attacking while hiding gives a damage bonus and an attack penalty, however you will become visible once you attack.
Hide status is revoked on any action that costs AP and several others, including dropping items, changing pets' stances, and failing actions (for instance, attempting to enter a building while the door is closed costs no AP, but your "hidden" status is revoked).

Effect: Grants an additional 20 temporary HP. These additional Hit Points are lost at the rate of 1 per minute.

Notes: This status is applied whenever the character drinks a Potion of Invisibility or a Void Walker uses its power of Invisibility. Regardless of the source of the effect, invisibility will expire immediately if the character attacks another character or uses a spell of any kind.

Effect: -5% to-hit, +1 to soak (all damage types)
Duration: 5 Minutes
Notes: Taking a Dose of Painkillers will make a character lethargic.

Status Effect Text: Minor Poison
Effect: 1 HP damage per AP used, -5% to-hit for all attacks.
Duration: Until cured with an First Aid Kit, or Death
Notes: Minor Poisons are not terribly common. Currently, the only known ways of being afflicted with a Minor Poison is by drinking a Potion of Poison, by a demon with Caustic Horns inflicting the status on a character, as one of the side-effects of the Juggernaut's noxious gas Area Of Effect attack or through a few rare magical items.

Effect: +1-6 damage to all attacks +6-16% to-hit bonus for the same +6-16% defensive bonus +1-6 soak bonus
Duration: Permanent as long as the Dark Oppressor is in Stygia.
Notes: This effect automatically appears on a Dark Oppressor when they arrive in Stygia, whether by respawning or by taking a portal. The damage and attack bonuses affect all types of attacks. The soak acts as a bonus rather than an armor, stacking with any armors or other bonuses you might have. See Damage Soak for more information.

Status Effect Text: Swimming
Effect: The character is swimming.
Duration: N/A
Notes: This status effect is applied whenever a character enters the water and begins swimming. This effect is only applied if the character is not under the effects of a different "water-based" status effect (such as a Water Breathing Potion), a spell, or a special ability (such as the Elementalist power Water Breathing. Further, this effect is only applied if the character is actually in the water (e.g., is not flying). This status effect has a duration of 15 minutes unless renewed by movement. Thus, a character may "tread water" for 15 minutes before the effect expires. If he or she moves, the swimming timer resets. If the timer expires while the character is still in the water, he or she will instantly drown.

Status Effect Text: Visual Prestidigitation
Effect: %5 defense

Notes: The Visual Prestidigitation spell gives this effect to the caster.

Status Effect Text: Void Walking
Effect: The character is no longer blocked by Void squares and may walk across them.
Duration: N/A
Notes: This is an effect exclusive to Void Walkers with the Stepping of the Corner skill. They may walk across Void as if it were any other passable square. While walking on Void squares Void Walkers will not regenerate any Action Points and if they spend their last available AP stepping onto a Void square they will fall into the Void and die.

Effect: The character can swim safely.
Duration: 2 Hours
Notes: This status effect is applied as the result of the character consuming a Potion of Water Breathing. This should not be confused with the Elementalist power, Water Breathing, which is an innate ability and does not apply a status effect.

Status Effect Text: Way of the Porpoise
Effect: Enables the caster to move through water at a cost of 1AP per square instead of 2AP as with swimming.
Duration: 15 Minutes
Notes: This status effect is applied as the result of casting the Way of the Porpoise spell.

Status Effect Text: Way of Void
Effect: +5% to-hit

Notes: This is the status effect applied by the Eternal Soldier Skill The Way of Void.
[edit] Weaken
Status Effect Text: Weakened
Effect: Inflicts a scaled soak penalty and attack roll % penalty on the target.
Duration: 5 Minutes or until healed
Notes: This is a touch-based pariah skill that helps to decrease high soaks (particularly useful against paladins). In addition it can actually cause the soak to go below zero, allowing the pariah to deal bonus damage to the target. The soak and attack roll begin at -1 and -5% and grow to -5 and -15% by the time the demon hits level 30.

Effect: Minor Flight, immunity to non-magical attacks.
