Talk:Elder Powers
From NexusWiki
What does "sub-divine" mean in this article? Does it mean "everything not angelic," including mortals? Or does it refer specifically to the descended creatures (demons)? The first seems a bit redundant in the context, and the second, well, makes the term seem ambiguous. Macabre 11:24, 3 October 2006 (CDT)
- I believe "sub-divine", in this context, refers to those who are both not mortals, and not Elder Powers. That is, anyone who has scended. --Jimbo Bob 12:24, 3 October 2006 (CDT)
- Sub-Divine refers to any being who has Transcended, but is of Evil Morality, or Descended, (Demonic), individuals. Ascended, (Angelic), individuals are harder for the Evil Elder Powers to corrupt, due to their fanatic allegiance to the powers of "Good". --Kibbs 12:35, 3 October 2006 (CDT)
- I'm leaning towards Jimbo Bob's definition, that divine is not used to indicate good, but instead indicate deities. Thus, anyone who is not a god is sub-divine. Otherwise, it's a horribly racist thing to say, implying that good classes are superior to the point of divinity. --Craer 22:00, 26 January 2007 (CST)
- ...Gah. Much as I appreciate the support: definition of race (see the first definition in the sixth entry in particular). Alignment, in this context, refers to morality. Note how the two definitions do not overlap in any particular. Sorry if it seems like I'm nitpicking, but I'm so damn sick of this fallacy. --Jimbo Bob 05:10, 27 January 2007 (CST)
- I'd be led to assume that "sub-divine" means anyone not divine (and "divine" meaning divinities, I.E. gods, so anyone but one of the elder powers), but since mortals are mentioned separately, I'd say anyone but a mortal or an elder power. --AlexanderRM 12:43, 11 November 2007 (CST)
