Can we remove the "karma" and "faction level" sections from the faction template? These are so variable and change so often that it's largely irrelevant to display them, since the info will almost always be incorrect. I suggest instead including "Stronghold Location" or a simlar line. --LibrarianBrent 23:48, 4 May 2006 (CDT)

Go right ahead.--Jorm 00:30, 5 May 2006 (CDT)

Is there any trading benefit to being in a faction, now that you can also trade with non-faction-members? --Dan 15:21, 3 June 2006 (CDT)

No; that should have been edited out.--Jorm 15:53, 3 June 2006 (CDT)

Is it just me, or is there no "Create new faction" link in the faction page? I am only Level 1 at the moment, which may be why, but I can't seem to find any evidence that that has anything to do with anything... -- Odd Starter 00:58, 6 June 2006 (CDT)

Top of the browse list, there is a button. Unless you're already in a faction, in which case it says "view current faction."--Jorm 01:15, 6 June 2006 (CDT)
Goddamn, I must be completely blind. I see the Factions Search form, and I see the regular list of buttons at the top, but no button that seems to say "Create New Faction" or whatever. And I've tried reloading the page multiple times, and I still can't find a thing... -- Odd Starter 01:26, 6 June 2006 (CDT)
Hmm. Interesting. Here is a picture of already joined character, if that helps. --Brizth 02:15, 6 June 2006 (CDT)
Oh right, so now I see it. Dunno how I missed it before... -- Odd Starter 02:17, 6 June 2006 (CDT)

Personally, i dont see any benefit from having the Factions page as a seperate entity to Category:Factions. Wouldnt it just be simpler to move all the contents on this page onto Category:Factions and change the link on the front page? At present its a pain to navigate to the category via links. --Grim s 03:48, 15 June 2006 (CDT)

  • I would wholehearteadly agree with this if the Factions page wasn't so long. If it were to be put onto the Category:Factions page, it would be too busy and the factions themselves would be bumped to the bottom of the page. Maybe a link to the category page belongs on the main page as well. --Keator 07:06, 15 June 2006 (CDT)

I'd like to see some mention of the mechanics of faction standards and faction honor in this section. I came here looking for it, but its conspicuously absent. --Mookiemookie 20:15, 11 July 2006 (CDT)

I am EXTREMELY confused by the faction bonuses. I'm browsing the factions in the game, looking for one to join (okay, so it's just for the bonuses...) and they don't seem to have anything to do with the faction level. I can tell that factions with 0 karma don't have any bonuses at all, and that higher karma seems to = higher bonuses, and that it LOOKS like the bonuses you get are something related to (karma / faction level) or possibly (karma / membership)... but past that I just don't get how it works! ...Also I think I just accidentally killed a faction's stronghold, by joining when they were right at a threshold... --shamefully anonymous, 11:56, 6 March 2007 (PST)

See the changelog for 1.4; basically, you need a certain amount of karma per member to attain factional bonuses. If you only have a faction of the karma needed (i.e., you have 40 karma when you need 80) you would receive half benefits (rounded down, i think). Hence the reason the massive factions have no bonuses anymore is because they need many hundreds of squares infused to achieve the required karma.--Alecto 20:03, 13 March 2007 (CDT)

Does anyone know how much membership and honor contribute to the points required for level? I'm guessing honor is probably 1:1, but is membership something else?--Alecto 20:03, 13 March 2007 (CDT)

Discussion in the forum attributed to Fenrisulfr would seem to indicate that faction level is believed to be: Floor(Log(base2){Sum for all characters( (character.level)(character.tier))/5}) This is indicated to be unconfirmed, but is possibly still useful to tack in this discussion.--Razmus 14:19, 4 March 2008 (CST)

Did the chart of Faction Bonuses get removed? I swear it was on this page. I don't see it in the revision history, though. --Nixx 02:08, 14 April 2007 (CDT)

[edit] Starting Off

Does this mean that you have to 30 members before you can get a SH, which enables you to get honor? So, karma's just used for attracting people to your faction? --Peterbluer 19:30, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
