Something that I've wondered about the lightning bolts of zerger smiting for a while: Are they just instant kills, or is there some other punishment they give? Altoid Addict 16:52, 16 July 2006 (CDT)

Insta-kills.--Jorm 17:03, 16 July 2006 (CDT)

Hmm... Today one of my characters, in search of wood for quivers, stepped into a hardware store that another one of mine was sleeping in. When I spent the remaining 19 AP searching, I failed to turn up anything. Anything at all. Not even any junk or hidden players. When I disconnected and switched to the aforementioned character, I spent 10 more AP searching, similary turning up nothing. Is this a multi abuse safeguard, or just tremendously bad luck? Gryffinp 18:43, 20 July 2006 (CDT)

Multi-abuse safeguard. You will never be able to do anything when you're in the same square as another one of your characters. This includes everything. --Maggah 23:00, 20 July 2006 (CDT)

I'm having problems with my characters. Two of them cannot restore power (after about 15 attempts of such with each character), and my other character is only landing blows on other characters once every 8 attacks or so with a 30% to hit. Would these be signs of a zerging flag? --A1C Jerry 13:21, 15 August 2006 (CDT)

The power thing DEFINATELY is a zerg flag, and one that was introduced with 1.1. The missing thing is not (if you're actually landing a hit, it's not a zerg flag). You cannot farm power.--Jorm 15:32, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
What triggers the zerging flag for power? I never (intentionally) turned power off with one charatcer, and turned it back on with another. And how long does it take to disengage the flag? I try to keep my characters in separate neighborhoods... Though that doesn't always work with the respawns. So I may of reactived a building in a neighborhood that Character A was in with Character B by accident. --A1C Jerry 16:37, 15 August 2006 (CDT)
I'm not telling you what triggers the flag. Keep your dudes away from each other and don't try to farm things and you'll be alright.--Jorm 16:56, 15 August 2006 (CDT)

A Question: Lets say I have a main character that is a higher level, and has some halfway decent armor/weapons that are no longer useful (better stuff found). Would a one time pass-me-down to a newly formed character be considered zerging? - Zizanie13 23:36, 13 September 2006 (CDT)

Ayup. --Maggah 00:38, 14 September 2006 (CDT)
Pretty textbook case. The zerg flags would explode your head, or melt your items, or something. --Zaruthustra 01:35, 14 September 2006 (CDT)
So if I wanted to do something like that, I'd have to get a friend, or faction member to do it for me? I don't want to cheat the system, nor do I want the two characters interacing any more than this once. I thought that so long as they aren't trying to get XP from each others actions, weren't in the same battle, etc I could trade some items without a penalty. -- Zizanie13 16:41, 16 September 2006 (CDT)
Even having someone else do it for you is multi-abuse. If, somehow, items from one of your characters make it into the inventories of another one of your characters, you are committing multi-abuse - even if you do it in a heavily roundabout way.--Jorm 16:51, 16 September 2006 (CDT)
So I guess the end result is ABSOLUTELY no interaction between your characters. Thanks for putting up with the annoying lawyer like questions. -- Zizanie13 16:59, 18 September 2006 (CDT)
Correct.--Jorm 17:27, 18 September 2006 (CDT)
"Heavily Roundabout" How heavily? I realise it'd be counterproductive to tell us how many hands an enchanted rifle has to pass through before its clean again, but they do get clean again, right? after a while I can see dud items cropping up in stronghold safes etc, and It would be horrific for me to taly out a great deal of internal credit to lay my hands on a tooled up set of armour, only to discover it'd been handed off to Player A by one of my alts, who hands it off to player B, who dumped it in a vault, where Player C picks it out, repairs it, enchants it, and hands it to me, where I then get nuked for Multi abuse, yanno? --Heff 01:45, 16 November 2006 (CST)--Heff 04:05, 25 November 2006 (CST)[re-edit for clarity]

Hey. I'm wondering... my sister wants to start playing, in the same faction i'm in. We're on separate computers, but on the same internet connection. Would this a) be against the rules, and b) cause any nasty effects to our characters and\or faction? --Groveller 07:42, 29 November 2006 (CST)

Your "sister." Sure, sure.--Jorm 13:21, 29 November 2006 (CST)
Jorm, I'll vouch for them. On the site I run, he and his sister have been regulars for a long time. While I haven't met them personally, there are other people on our site who have and know them both. They've been outstanding over there. Just, you know, in case that makes a difference.Saulres 13:42, 29 November 2006 (CST)
Thanks, Saulres. I understand the doubt. Maybe this will help? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsuq0nJEd5I :P --Groveller 14:43, 29 November 2006 (CST)
HAHAHAHHAH! That's frickin' awesome. Yeah, you're cool; there shouldn't be a problem.--Jorm 15:37, 29 November 2006 (CST)
Yay. Many thanks. (Grov's little sister) --Zatnik 16:01, 29 November 2006 (CST)

Wouldn't attempted repairs breaking encourage zerging for crafters? You could just have two alts in a factory and attempt to repair items until they are at the lowest possible quality, have one step away, then repair the broken items up to 'worn' for the exp, step your alt back inside the next AP cycle and repeat. Sure, it would cost AP out the butt to do it, but it would be a method of alt abuse that isn't just circumventing the anti-abuse measures, but caused by them. --Craer 12:13, 15 February 2007 (CST)

I'm sure that there's a way of tracking people that try to abuse the anti-alt abuse system.--Morzas 17:14, 15 February 2007 (CST)

Quick question, I assume it would count as multi abuse if you make another account so you can have more characters even if they wont be interacting with one another?--Pyromonkey 09:43, 4 April 2008 (CDT)

Unofficial Response: One account per person is the rule. If you make more than one account you risk having all of your guys killed and locked, so please do not make a second account if you want to keep playing!! If you want more characters, it's easy and cheap to donate and you can use the credits to get more slots added on to your account or buy nice custom clothes and aspects and stuff for your characters. :) Mac Dre 13:54, 4 April 2008 (CDT)

Would more than one character counter-infusing a SH square be multi abusing?--Simmura MCrea 11:20, 3 September 2008 (CDT)

I'd say yes.. or any square. I accidentally stumbled on this. You will get a message when THAT zerg flag is tripped about the energy just dissipating rather than infusing the square.--Razmus 09:26, 4 September 2008 (CDT)

[edit] Zerg flag and healing

There are two possible scenarios in which the anti-zerging code affects FAK healing:

  1. You try to use a FAK on someone while your alt is in the same square. The healing fails and the FAK is lost.
  2. You heal someone whom any of your characters has recently attacked. In this case, HP is healed as normal, but no XP is gained. Vroxayl 13:11, 17 December 2007 (CST)
