Talk:The Faithful

Well guys, here's my attempt at our faction page. Feel free to add things, and I'll do the same over the coming weeks. Much of this stuff is at a filler stage, since I wanted to get at least a basic Table of Contents and a few sub sections done. Meaning, things are subject to change and rewording. Let's get chatting and build this up! --Liche

Folks, I appreciate the help in updating The Faithful's Wiki page, but if you don't sign in when you make your edits I'm going to start reverting them. It's not fair to us for anonymous users to edit our page -- if you want to make an edit but not an account, pm me and I'll see what I can do. --Liche 04:05, 7 May 2006 (CDT)

After the latest anonymous vandal, I am now going to revert any edit to this page made by a user who is not logged in. --LibrarianBrent 07:14, 8 May 2006 (CDT)

[edit] Evil is as Evil does.

As things stand, a Good-aligned faction can have a member of somewhat dubious morality, as long as the member isn't actually a demon. With that in mind, Santa Manteca would dearly love to be Faithful. Heck, he'd even agree to get Sense Morality and only kill the baddies if he could get to hang out with the first real faction to have a wiki page. He is a Masked Wrestler of sense and discretion, and you can trust him implicitly. Really. So he made some poor target choices as a youngster, is that any reason to exclude him now? --Fred Dullard 19:48, 17 April 2006 (CDT)

Re: Well Fred, if you aren't that evil it would be much easier to accept you, but we will be keeping an eye out on your morality if we do accept you, to see that you won't drop into evil further, but we or I am at least willing to give most people a chance. --Kasz 4:40, 19 April 2006 (AET)

I personally think maybe a show of good faith (no pun intended) would be nice. perhaps if Santa Manteca began hanging out in Chafin healing those who needed it? Also, just how dubious is his morality? --BFNdude

Oh, well, errr. Santa Manteca is proud to announce that he's pretty sure that the last few people he attacked were fairly evil. So that's the good news. The bad news is that he is now at a fairly dubious -216 because of course attacking evil drops Santa Manteca's morality. He's certainly willing to give that fine Healing Action a try. If he can pick up Engineering and a toolkit, he might well go medieval on a few busted-up doors, too. Combat is clearly going to do nothing to convince anyone of his Good Intentions. He certainly isn't going to die any more often as a medic than he does as a complete batshit loony Masked Wrestler, at least. EDIT: -215, Santa Manteca healed up a sorcerer. He may be fully saturated, but he's good for your health.--Fred Dullard 18:17, 19 April 2006 (CDT)

Just a quick Fighting Evil Update. Well, Santa Manteca still has No Evil-Fighting Skills, but he's not giving up. His morality is -34, which ain't too bad for someone with no useful skills whatsoever. He can't heal worth crap, but that's ok because he also can't find wounded people to heal most days. Can't stay in a hospital because some Paladin will come by and murder him if the Pariahs don't get him first. His current Secret Plan for Moral Behavior is to go on a mad badge hunting spree and get Engineering, because then he can be an Electrician for Justice, and fix doors, too. Reynolds Number, my other evil medic, has a big advantage over Santa Manteca because Reynolds Number has both Medicine and Engineering (Santa Manteca doesn't even have first aid). But Just You Wait. He'll get there in the end. Even though Some People insist on setting up wards against so-called Evil on major thoroughfares of the Archipelago. Bastards. --Fred Dullard 12:26, 28 April 2006 (CDT)

[edit] Evil is as Neutral does

Wahoo. Little Santa Manteca is proud to present:

You attack Evil Joe Shmoe with your Fist for 5 points of Bludgeon damage.
You gain 6 Experience Points! (Tue, 02 May 2006 20:22:59 -0500)

Well, nothing very exciting about that, except that Santa Manteca's morality moved in the desired direction. He's neutral! In fact, thanks to suicidally slapping this Pariah around, he's made it to -8. Actually Good looms just around the corner. Shepherdness could well be in his future. The slog through incompetent doctoring and itinerant door repair and electricity restoration can be replaced by the far more fun activity of running up to random demons and trying to slap them silly. In this case, the sequel is pretty predictable, especially since Evil Joe Shmoe has Blood Taste. --Fred Dullard 20:34, 2 May 2006 (CDT)

Well done, Santa Manteca! I personally say we let him in now. He;s shown his repentance. --BFNdude

[edit] Attacking Non-Evils

[edit] Victim: Hellbound

  1. Trent Root attacked you with a Pistol for 8 points of Ballistic damage.
  2. Trent Root said, "Bah! You're lucky my morality is already almost shot..."
  3. Trent Root fired a magical bolt of electricity at you. You take 6 points of damage.

Hellbound was neutral at the time. I'm not sure that it makes a huge deal or difference, but I thought it should be brought up. (Hellbound is not my character, this is from in-chan.) -Wyn (talk!) 13:51, 11 May 2006 (CDT)

[edit] Wrong Title

Guys, the title of this article should be "Faithful, The" and it should be sorted under the F's, not the T's. Just a minor thing. The Sham 22:53, 24 May 2006 (CDT)

If it's a matter of sorting that's easily changed, I'll go do that, personally I hate the use of ", The" in titles, it looks stupid and ugly.--Keator 07:37, 25 May 2006 (CDT)

Leave it where it is. If it becomes necessary, we can simply make a redirect. -Wyn (talk!) 13:22, 25 May 2006 (CDT)

[edit] Class, or just MO?

You accept neutral classes, right, as long as they have good MO? I'm thinking of finding a guild for Perrish (bookworm, MO=23), but I want him to be a sorcerer not an angel. --Dan 09:11, 6 June 2006 (CDT)

Yup, we accept neutral classes. As long as someone is Good, they are good candidates for The Faithful.  :-) --Liche 10:41, 6 June 2006 (CDT)

Cool. It's a common misconception that the use of undead minions is evil. I think my lich-wannabe could get religion. His fixation is on Truth, but I don't think he could kick his undead habit if he tried. --Dan 22:52, 6 June 2006 (CDT)

EDIT: Looks like I'll be making my way onto IRC. --Alexander 06:19, 12 June 2006 (CDT)

[edit] Request to Join

Lacking any other way to contact your group, I am resorting to this. I have a character that I intend to become a Seraph, and I would like for him to be a member of this faction. How should I contact you to discuss this? Caphriel 22:24, 11 June 2006 (CDT)

The suggested method was IRC, but I am sadly IRC disabled. I posted a link to my character profile (which includes the ID number I was told you'd need) in your thread in the recruiting section of the official forum. Thanks for the help so far! Caphriel 23:48, 11 June 2006 (CDT)

Glamph, my psychometry-wielding pacifist surgeon, is nearly ready to spread the word as a Shepard (with an eye to becoming an Advocate, if the forces of good find him worthy), and he would like to join and make his modest contribution of purification rituals to a worthy faction. Glamph would prefer to join The Faithful to this end. Where can I find the official The Faithful forum to apply? Unlife 03:36, 13 June 2006 (CDT)

As per the above supplicants, I seek the means to join this faction. --Jimbo Bob 17:38, 13 June 2006 (CDT)

The Recruitment thread on the forums is a pretty quick way to get into The Faithful: [1]. Or if you don't mind having your character link publicly known, toss me a link on my talk page here, and I'll get you as soon as I can. --Maggah 18:39, 13 June 2006 (CDT)

[edit] Greetings from the enemy

Hi, angels of the Faithful. I, Jack Foster enjoy being your enemies. Your honourable warriors, although stained in our blood, had shown respect. There was, however, a problem. OS would like to know who leaked our confidential information to you. We do not appreciate it when our own bretherns betray our cause. Therefore, I would like to ask who was the leak, and why they did it. There will be coinciquences. --Jack Foster 19:36, 15 July 2006 (CDT)

[edit] Reporting to the Roll of Oath-Breakers

One of my nuns, Sister Hottpepper420, a good Sorcerer with 34 MO in the good faction Convent of Nuns was recently attacked by allegedly good Paladin Jack in the Green. We feel that this conduct is inappropriate for a member of a faction such as The Faithful and request that punitive action be taken. How can one fight to protect the innocent if we are stabbed in the back by scoundrels such as these? --Mother Altena 22:02, 2 August 2006
