Talk:The Master of Hidden Energy
From NexusWiki
Why would ES need yet another skill (after focused attack and way of fire) that can change damage type to nexal? Or why would anyone want to pay 4 mp to change from bludgeon damage to another mundane type? Wouldn't it make sense to remove Piercing, Slashing, Ballistic, and Nexal as options? Then leave Cold, Fire, and Electrical and lower the mp cost to 3. --JoeFurious 13:52, 18 April 2008 (CDT)
- If you'd like to discuss the merits of a skill or how you think it should be improved, use the Rules Discussion or Suggestions forums; they're much better for it. The short answers to your questions are: the appeal and CP cost of this skill will likely cause it to replace Focused Attack and The Way of Fire in many HtH ES builds. This skill adds a tremendous amount of versatility with only a slight loss in AP/MP efficiency. With regard to offering mundane damage types, well, people have all kinds of armor, and not all of it is innate. --Geht 14:31, 18 April 2008 (CDT)
- And honestly, while Nexal damage may be one of the better types in the game, there are other considerations. Like the fact that bullet punch = extra awesome. Srekto 11:07, 19 April 2008 (CDT)
- Replace Focused Attack and The Way of Fire? Not a chance. You will do LESS damage with The Master of the Martial Form to DCs, Seraphs, and ALL of the casters with uniform soak against all types. This is comparing Focused Attack, a 20 CP skill, to the pending The Master of the Martial Form, a 60 CP skill. Someone can buy Focused Attack and The Way of Fire for less CP than The Master of the Martial Form--JoeFurious 14:43, 19 April 2008 (CDT)
- Bullet punch sounds awesome, but actual use will be very much not awesome. The VAST majority of the time it will do exactly as much damage as a normal fist attack.--JoeFurious 14:43, 19 April 2008 (CDT)
- Its flavor, and fun. If you don't think its fun, don't buy it. Some people will like it and will use it just for the hell of it. --Teksura 00:48, 10 June 2008 (CDT)
