[edit] The Legion

The Legion is an unaligned faction whose primary purpose is to create a solid support network across the island for our members, creating a beneficient environment that will best faciliate each individual member's ability to advance their characters as they see fit and realize their potential, whatever that may be. While we certainly welcome members across all skill levels, we are particularly mindful of the needs of lower leveled players who would otherwise be at a significant disadvantage vis-a-vis their higher leveled counterparts throughout the game. As a young, albeit rapidly growing, faction, we seek to allow all members--but especially our newer and lower leveled ones--the opportunity to combine their collective forces for mutual benefit. Our rapid growth, being listed as among the top 15 factions within just a few days of our founding, is a testament to the powerful need and benefit for the newest (and therefore, statistically weakest) players to band together to form a whole that is greater than the sum of its parts.

[edit] Disposition Toward Other Factions

As our mission is a benign one centered around bearing fruit for our members, we adhere to no inflexible ideology and therefore do not bear any intrinsic ill-will towards any other faction. While the engagement of hostilities as to other individual players is an inevitability in a PvP game, our aggressions when they arise will be solely motivated by the attainment of a particular tactical or strategic objective--not by factional rivalries or ideological perversion. Unless provoked and called to exercise our inherent right of self defense, we will not initiate de facto or de jure faction wars.

[edit] Strategy And Tactics

While it would obviously be imprudent to discuss publicly the details of our strategy and tactics, there are some points worth mentioning. Our broad strategy is to create safe-haven areas throughout the island where our members and any non-hostile friends of The Legion may reside, seek refuge or otherwise advance their own causes. Tactically this is accomplished through the deployment of rapid reaction squads and garrisons at key points throughout the island.

[edit] The Chain of Command

The Legion's four ranks are as follows: Legionnaire Honoris Causa; Legionnaire Principal; Senator; & Consul

Legionnaires Honoris Causa make up the backbone of our faction and, unlike other factions where the lowest rank simply denotes the grunt footsoldier position who labor for the benefit of their superiors, are actually the chief beneficiaries of our faction's efforts. Legionnaires Honoris Causa will typically be the lowest leveled of our members, and consistent with our mission, our goals will be to undertake activities that will prioritize the ability of these players to level up and advance--the individual leveling and individual resource needs of the players of superior rank will always be subordinated to the faction's need to strengthen our Legionnaires Honoris Causa.

Legionnaire Principals are charged with the important task of leading our squads of Legionnaires Honoris Causa. They are The Legion's chief tactical architects and enjoy great autonomy in commanding their squads consistent with the strategic needs of the faction as fashioned by higher command. Groups of Legionnaires Honoris Causa will report directly to a Legionnaire Principal, their Squad Leader.

Senator are administrative officers who advise on strategic decisions and administrative policy. Typically Senators do not directly command any Legionnaires Honoris Causa, though occasionally they will serve as an intermediary between Legionnaire Principals and the Consul. Senators are also judicial officers and disputes between Legionnaires in the field should be directed first to a Senator.

The Legion is chaired by two Cosuls, Quingawaga and The Tall One. The Consuls are responsible for broad policy decisions, strategic oversight and are entrusted with a fiduciary duty to advance the interests of The Legion's many members.

[edit] Who Can Join

We are an Unaligned faction and can only accept members as such. Only one character per player is allowed to join (The Legion is a "No-Multis" faction). Our membership is currently open (thus, you do not require an invitation) and we are actively recruiting. Come join us!
