Even in failure, you learn to adapt to your opponent's defenses. Your ability to hit other characters with the same hand-to-hand attack increases every time you miss an attack.
Whenever the Eternal Soldier misses a target, if he attacks the same target with the same weapon as his next action, his chance to hit increases by 5%. This effect will continue to stack as long as the same weapon and target is chosen. This ability only works versus other characters. If the Soldier makes a successful attack, the bonus is reset to 0. This ability only works with innate, hand-to-hand weapons. This ability is permanent and always active.
His first punch had missed by at least three inches, but it had given him everything he needed. The muscles under the seraph's left eye had twitched just before she'd sidestepped to the left.
He watched her eyes twitch again, to the right this time, as she moved her head to avoid his jab. An inch, maybe.
Just before he fired off an uppercut, her left eye twitched ever so slightly. He altered the angle of his punch and caught her square in the jaw, shattering it with a pleasant crunching sound.
He spoke to her as she reeled in pain. "Learn some composure. Your face is like an open book".
