One fine day in the city of Malton a fellow named Smasho, who happened to be the head of the Maintenance Department at the Malton City Zoo, was shoveling out the hippopotamus pens with the zen-like concentration that such a task requires. In a moment of fate, he slipped on a pile of hippo whatsit and began to fall, arms flailing wildly, face-first into the waste. He woke up moments later, understandably sore but surprisingly uncovered in dung. He brushed himself off and looked around. Little did he know, but he had fallen through a very cleverly-hidden portal and landed in the Nexus. As he wandered around Valhalla he ran into several other of the zoo staff and even some of the animals. Together they searched for a place to call their own, something to stand for, and a new place to resume their abiding mission of making sure that all monkeys are appropriately pantsed. Finding a zoo, and therefore familiar territory, they set to work organizing themselves and any stray animals that might be wandering around. Though still a very young group, the Zookeepers' experience in Malton has prepared them well to be a faction worthy of maintaining and defending one of the Nexus' most fascinating mundane attractions.
First order of business: get all those corpses out of the pens.
Second order of business: stockpile pants.

Once the zoo was established, more Zookeepers who managed to find their way to the Nexus were drawn inextricably toward the new homestead. Our numbers grow bit by bit, and we are always looking for new volunteers and staff members. No experience required.
Currently, the only requirement for membership is to sign up. We are congregating in the general area of the Zoo, located in southern Northcamp. Drop on by and introduce yourself. And while you're here, grab a broom. These cages aren't going to sweep themselves.

[edit] Why would I want to be a Zookeeper?
Good question. The short answer: I have no idea. I mean, we have healers, people to repair your busted sword, a good group of meta-gamers, the history of one of the 15 biggest groups in UD for five months running, and the hope that soon there will be monkeys in the zoo that we can train to act out the most recent episode of "24", replacing all of the gun-fights with poo-flinging, but is that enough?
In a word: yes.

The Jack Hannah Society - These are the directors of the zoo, the ambassadors to the outside world. You know, the ones who are likely to appear on Letterman with a bunch of freaky animals in tow.
Senior Zookeeper - These are the people who oversee the day-to-day operations of the zoo. They're the ones who get the honor of plunging their arms into buckets of dead herring to appease the Orcas.
Docent - These are the folks who stand outside the exhibits and have all sorts of fascinating things to tell you about the Ocelot.
Scrub the Jellyfish Tank - Welcome to the zoo. Here's your new job. Be thankful we haven't gotten the Elephant House working yet.
At this time, the rank structure of the Northcamp Zoo is the same as that of our beloved Malton Zoo. Advancement is certainly possible, we just haven't figured out how to do it yet, or if indeed it's even worth advancing at this point.
