Effect(s)
  • Allows the Dark Oppressor to steal a pet from another character.

Your facility of command is such that you are sometimes able to taint the souls of pets, stealing their loyalties.

This ability grants the Dark Oppressor the ability to steal a single pet from a pet master. The pet will be fully under the Dark Oppressor's control for the duration that it exists. The pet may not retain all of its normal abilities; the corrupting taint sometimes permanently alters the stolen pet. The Dark Oppressor must land a touch attack on the pet in question. Some pets are more difficult to steal than others, so the attack may not always succeed. Tainted pets may not be rejuvenated as they have lost connection to their magical source. The Dark Oppressor may only steal one pet at a time.

Stolen pets are tainted. In most cases, this will have no effect on the pet's abilities or behaviors.

Tainted pets may not be rejuvenated or "stolen" by another Dark Oppressor.

The following changes occur to tainted pets:

  • Tainted Judgemasters are called Sinmasters. Their damage type is changed from Holy to Unholy. They have no targeting restrictions.
  • Tainted Aethersprites are called Hellsprites. Their damage type is changed from Holy to Unholy. They do not perform healing functions. They have no targeting restrictions.
  • Tainted Wheels of Righteousness are called Wheels of Injustice. Their damage type is changed to Unholy. They will not auto-rejuvenate from attacks. They have no targeting restrictions.

Even Demons could feel loyalty. As one of the last few still standing between the invaders and his faction's standard, the Dark Oppressor's loyalty kept him rooted to the spot, watching with a sense of helplessness as the Holocaust incinerated first one faction mate, and then another, and another. Then it was his turn, and instead of trying to escape, he reached out, braving the heat, and touched the Elemental even as it drew back to attack him.

"You answer to me now," he hissed in Rach. The Holocaust paused, and seemed to nod, as if acknowledging his words. The look on the enemy Elementalist's face as his now-tainted servant suddenly turned on him and his fellow raiders was a sight to behold.

Demons could feel loyalty. Elementals...not so much.
