[edit] I'm in ur wiki, reviewin ur faction
This is my opinion of various factions, based either on my personal experience or the image they present.
- Oblivion Squadron: Rather paranoid, resulting in tight and effective raid crews. RPs quite a bit, but tends to be contained within a group of running themes. Strictest alt abuse and behaviour policy I've ever seen - ban first, ask questions later. Will raid anyone. Does most of their business over the forums.
- Pirates of R'lyeh: Biggest faction in the game and thus has a massive amount of bonus leeches. Only a handful of players actually stick with the pirate/cthulhu theme.
- Ridleytown Resistance Front: Intensely boring. If their stronghold didn't have a door, half the faction would quit. Tends to raid mid-size Good factions, occasionally retaliating at OS strikes. Has factional politics similar to those of most Good factions.
- The Demons Next Door: Tea. Goddamned tea. Plays infusion dickery over Stygia. RPs a lot, but by the 1500th repetitive tea emote the allure wears off. High concentration of alts of Good characters, and it shows in their politics and infrequent raids.
- The Shining Ones: Rather generic unless you go onto IRC where it's completely insane. Very paranoid (not without reason), possibly bipolar. Intensely dislikes carebears, people who care too much about staying alive and peace.
- Acta Sanctorum: Rather boring, most members stick to the "gragh smite evil" theme. Raids equivalent-sized factions about once a week. Likes to complain about people not emoting, then silently AoEs factions down to the last thing (more of a result of game mechanics than anything else). The leader's a reasonable guy.
- Alliance of Saint Germaine: The largest Good faction out there, much like the Pirates this leads to only a small core roleplaying. Stays in Valhalla, where they get whacked by pretty much any faction that bothers. Hasn't run to Paradise like most other Good factions. Is rather famous for having a former leader or two admit to alt abusing.
- Balance: They stick very closely to their theme of neutrality, and have a strict stance on alt abuse. Often raid factions many times their size - and succeed.
- Edgetown Original Gangsters: Being Closed ensures that this faction remains rp-heavy and deadly on raids. Offensive, but no-one cares.
- Magi Anonymous: More boring than the RRF, though with less doorfarmers. Squishy (hence is raided often but doesn't hit back), and vultures other factions. Is inexplicably included into the Paradise cluster of alliances.
- Ragged Philanthropists: Formerly 'the' place to craft to level 30 without worrying about death, they've since shedded their bonus leeches and are trying to kick a bunch of factions out of the Forgotten City. Having alt abusers (and other unsatisfactories) in their ranks doesn't help their reputation much.
- The Claw: Lives in Stygia, and doesn't have much of a shtick.
- The Divine Slayers: Notorious for having alt abusers within their ranks. Said alt abusers are smart enough to not expose themselves.
- The Faithful: Ridiculously petty.
- The Scourge: The smallest of the large evils, they get hit regularly when the angels don't have the AoErs to take out a larger faction. Now based in Stygia.
- ACROSS: Mid-sized evil that struggled heavily through the small evil stage. Closed membership gives them full bonuses and good intrafaction harmony.
- All Your Souls: Mid-sized Good. Has a shtick that is rather dated. Get raided more often than other goods.
- Blood Hawk Brigade: Mercenaryish faction. Up until recently was very boring.
- Celestial Defense Force: Has shedded almost 90% of their members since their inception and is now tiny. I have no clue why they're on the front page.
- Children of the Lightbulb: History of getting raided ridiculously often by the RRF. Regardless, they've soldiered through. Solid leadership.
