[edit] About me

  • A dude.
  • A Merikan.
  • Chicagoan
  • Student at Earlham College in Indiana (little hippy school run by Quakers)
  • Made of meat.

[edit] My characters

I read a lot of fantasy and science fiction novels, and I'm also big on mythology. Most of my characters have names either originating from one of those two sources, or stolen outright.

I also tend to favor high-damage-output classes over tankish ones. My philosophy is that if they're alive long enough to attack back, you're doing it wrong.

[edit] Demons

a pack of lolcats. Are they a really a self-aware conglomerate of cats speaking in horribly broken English, or just a mortal whose sanity has vanished beyond all recall? Nobody knows, but they're likely to turn your soul into kittehs. Gibbering spreader of insanity for Ahg-za-haru.

Angrboda is named after a Norse goddess (giantess, really) who was married to Loki, and mother to Fenris and Jormugandr. In the Nexus, she's a devoted member of Oblivion Squadron, and especially Strike Team Omega. She's a bit unconventional, using rifles and thrown weapons to the total exclusion of traditional demonic hand-to-hand attacks, but she gets by (and then some). Likely a follower of Tholaghru.

Melisandre is named after the character from George RR Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. After becoming a Dark Oppressor, she decided to join Murder Inc. Enjoys sucking out people's souls and poisoning them a bit too much. Will not be joining a cult, as R'hllor is the one true god.

[edit] Unaligned

A Zambah. Bra!nz? Zambah hangrah, g!mmah bra!nz!

Aeron Grejoy is named after the character from A Song of Ice and Fire, and what better way to embody the prophet of the Drowned God than as an Elementalist? Heals for experience, lots of transcribed cold and lightning damage spells for offense, and both air and water greater elementals. A well-rounded fellow, though a bit squishy. Waverider in the The Salty Dogs. Like Melisandre, unlikely to join a cult since he's the prophet of his own god.

Anomander Rake. Yes, another name taken from a fantasy novel. Slinging spells for Lawful Good!!.

Bob the Eternal is one of my original characters, and thus a little bit of a mess. Originally supposed to be a mortal through level 30, the idea lost its appeal really fast. He ended up becoming a melee Revenant, and is extremely deadly. Wields a variety of pristine blades. Currently factionless. Currently a Silent Disciple for Hashaa.

Sergei Goldberg started as a bit of a joke, being a badass Russian Jewish gangster. However, he quickly became a real gangster in the EOG, and travels around the Nexus shooting fools. Generally keeps his morality good, as he spends lots of time hunting for alchemical components in Paradise to keep his homies supplied. Goin' the distance with Goros.

Grasshopper. On a quest to become the greatest master of kung-fu in the Nexus.

[edit] Angels

Cnaiur urs Skiotha is named after a character from R. Scott Bakker's Darkness that Comes Before series. Like his namesake, he's pretty much insane. Originally intended to be a jackass zealot, he's chilling out with The High Knights of Liberation for now. Likes to carry a bunch of daggers around. Also likes throwing cars at people. Currently a Squire of Namm.

Simon Fench is the other of my surviving original characters. He's named after a spy's cover identity in China Mieville's The Scar. Has recently left The Faithful for The Quick and the Dead. He's something of a jack-of-all-trades; a career healer, he also raids with an enchanted longbow, provides AoE support with Song of the Word, infuses, alchemizes, and scrounges components. He has a bit of a drinking problem, said problem being that most taverns are the strongholds of other factions. More a lover than a fighter, he has recently become a devotee of Alonai.
