This here is my sandbox, where I tweak things what need tweaking.

Warning: This event is not open. Rules and implementation are not finalized, and all entries made will be deleted.

This is the main page for an ongoing back story game. In this area you can write your own articles about the history and events of Nexus War. The rules about article writing here are a variation of the game Lexicon. However, we are limited by schedules, an unreliable user base, and various other restrictions that would make a traditional game nearly impossible. So here are our special rules to our NW open lexicon project.

1. You are a journalist/historian/generally nosy person trying to piece together the events surrounding your transportation to the nexal arena. You and your peers are trying to recreate the largely speculative history of the Nexus Wars and the forces that drive them. You will be writing short pieces on various aspects of the conflict so people can better understand what happened. The powers that be have taken a special interest in these pieces, and will be watching carefully to maintain accuracy (or at least consistency).

2. As a credible research piece, your article must have at least 2 citations to existing research. Remember, when you cite an article you are affirming its truth and must treat everything in it as true. These people have also cited things that their research is based off of, so you must respect this research as well. This can become confusing, and a careless researcher can quickly contradict themselves outright. If your peers find that your research is fallacious, they can point it out to the lexicon mods for deletion. When the game starts, no peer research will exist. As such, there will be some small articles that contain universally accepted facts. These articles cannot be disputed. It's an academic sin to cite yourself, you can never cite an entry you've written. (this forces the players to intertwingle their entries, so that everybody depends on everyone else's facts.)

3. Most of your peers are a bunch of talentless hacks, and will more than likely have incorrect views of events. You can ignore their research and write your own. In the article each person will title a subheading with their article on the subject. If no article exists on it simply create your own. Under no circumstances should you edit or delete your peers' work. This is a serious journalistic ethics violation and would quickly get you kicked out of the general discussion. Remember, you can ignore others and write your own research, but if you cite other research on the subject that contradicts your own, you will have to choose to either delete your work or rework your article so that you don't contradict yourself.

4. Articles are graded according to the amount of citations (and by extension popularity) they receive. Whenever you cite an article put a link to your new article in the citations section of the article you are using. Based on the number of citations an article has a grade is assigned. All grades except platinum are meaningless, insofar as they are only there to show writers what is a popular theory that they might want to base their own works off of.

Bronze - When a submission is cited 5 times it reaches bronze standard.

Silver - A submission cited 10 times is upgraded to silver status.

Gold - A submission that is cited 20 times or more is seen as the gold standard for nexus journalism.

Platinum - 100% Jorm approved backstory. These articles cannot be argued with, and when they reach this level all contradictory research is deleted. Articles only reach platinum level when Jorm specifically OKs them.

5. Moderation is similar to moderation across the rest of Nexus Wars. Rules are intentionally vague to promote creativity and avoid bureaucracy. However, this isn't a free pass to cause havoc. You know when you're being a jackass. The mods know when you're being a jackass. If you intentionally write ridiculous spam entries, or maliciously cite your own articles repeatedly just to raise their grade, you're going to be warned and eventually kicked out. If you're not sure, ask around. If the mods tell you to stop. STOP. If we all play nice we can avoid a slew of pointless regulations.

6. Don't write about your own character, faction, or exploits. Just don't.

Eventually Jorm may choose favorite articles and raise them to platinum grade, turning them into official NW canon. Remember, history is created by the victor. So get out there and start writing it.
