[edit] Introduction

image:Icon_Large_Red_I_Skull.png

"It is our sacred duty is to thwart the nexus-native entities of supposed "good" and "evil". The multi-verse and its many planes are the birth right of mankind! Let none stand in our way. Do not be deceived by the "angel" nor the "demon" for they are but different sides of the same coin -- nexus-spawned filth bent on the ruination of all humanity."

The Warseers are an Unaligned faction, roleplaying as members of the Imperial Inquisition * from Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe. Our ultimate goal is to rid the Nexus of all daemons, i.e. all demons and angels. For much more in-depth information, look here and here.

[edit] Ranks

  • Neophyte - Uninitiated aspirants, the term ‘neophyte’ is more of a status than a rank; they have yet to become true members of the faction having yet to apply for promotion on the forum.
  • Interrogator - The first rank on the road to full inquisitorial status, the interrogator is a full member of the faction complete with access to the safe and the forum. To earn the rank of Interrogator the neophyte has had to request promotion via the forum and in doing agree to the faction's rules and code of behaviour.
  • Inquisitor - Charged with the full authority of the Emperor members holding the rank of inquisitor have more privileges than interrogators including the ability to promote neophytes to interrogator rank. There is a sub-category among Inquisitors based on whether that Inquisitor is a member of the ‘Warseer Inner-Circle‘ – a council of venerable Inquisitors who have a voice in directing leadership decisions along with authority to represent the faction in matters of diplomacy – such members are known as ‘Inner-Circle Inquisitors’.
  • Inquisitor Lord - The leaders of the faction are known as Inquisitor Lords and are promoted from the ranks of the Inner-Circle. Currently there are three Inquisitor Lords: Shadowferret, MightyHammer and VVraith.

[edit] Safe Access & Promotion

To gain promotion to the rank of Interrogator and as such qualify for safe access we ask you to do the following:

  • Join the forum and edit your profile so that it clearly shows your character's identity.
  • Post in the Promotion Thread with the following format: "Can [character name] be promoted to Interrogator?"
  • Once you have reached level 16 you are expected to contribute to the faction in a real, profound way by joining one of the following divisions:
    • Raiding
    • Logistics (alchemy & searching)
    • Scouting
    • Infusion
    • Special allowances can be made for dedicated pet masters and enchanters. Crafting and healing while valued are insufficient contributions on their own.
  • Act in accordance with the faction rules. The rules can change; it is your responsibility to keep yourself up-to-date.

Your request for promotion will be ignored if you don't follow the above guidelines.

Requesting promotion is considered confirmation of your acceptance of your responsibilities as detailed above.

[edit] Faction Rules

The following are the faction rules in the Warseers. We politely ask that you adhere to them, as they allow the faction to keep running smoothly. Most of them are common sense, but it is recommended that you read them anyway.

Cheating and Abuse
1.0 Alt-Abuse: Your characters are separate unrelated people who do not know each other or communicate in any way -- act accordingly.
1.1 Do not ever have more than one character on the same map square.
1.2 Never have more than one alt actively involved in any single 'theatre of battle'.
2.0 Multi-abuse: Do not create multiple Nexus War accounts.
3.0 Spying: If information (warseer or otherwise) isn't in the public domain (i.e. to read it requires a password or forum account) do not pass it on.
Name Colours
4.0 Purple, green and blue coloured names should never be attacked.
Stronghold Etiquette
5.0 Never leave the stronghold door closed.
5.1 Never repair the door when the AP expenditure will leave you unable to immediately open the stronghold door.
6.0 Use the safe responsibly.
6.1 Do not take more than you need from the safe.
6.2 Do not put crap in the safe -- if in doubt ask.
7.0 Pets should be set to "agressive to hostiles" when inside the stronghold.
7.1 Never attack our pets or pet masters. You gain nothing from it and only waste their AP and MP.
Infusion
8.0 Infuse responsibly -- there is no excuse not to first check the infusion forum / infusion map / faction mails marked with the 'infusion' tag.
Inquisitor Promotion Privellege
9.0 Inquisitors power to promote should only be used to promote Neophytes to Interrogators when they have correctly applied for promotion via the appropriate promotion thread following exactly the guidelines provided.
9.1 Only Inner Circle Inquisitors may promote Interrogators up to the rank of Inquisitors.
Representing the Faction
10.0 Never by action or inaction knowingly bring the faction into disrepute.
10.1 If you are attacked and/or killed by a purple, green, or blue name you must take a screen shot as evidence.
11.0 If you become aware of a potentially exploitable bug in the game resist at all costs the urge to exploit it, instead inform an Inquisitor Lord privately.

[edit] The =][= Tag

Long has it been noted that the Warseers use a specific tag to denote their presence or otherwise communicate their intentions. This tag takes the form of a stylised capital ‘I’ which refers to the Warhammer 40,000 ‘Inquisition’ of which the Warseers are modelled upon.

Sometimes the tag is accompanied by a word or phrase, either intended to inspire or intimidate. ‘Purged’ and ‘Cleansed’ are popular as a message applied to the ruins of successfully raided enemy strongholds while motivational propaganda taking the form of ‘thoughts of the day’ can be seen around Warseer territory.

Past history has shown however that it is not beneath the enemies of the Warseers to imitate this tag, often seeking to implicate the Warseers as the perpetrators of hostile counter infusing, or otherwise suggest they are the authors of provocative graffiti. It is for this reason that the Warseers highest crime is that of impersonating a member of the Inquisition -- individuals doing so are ruthlessly hunted down and executed for only in death can the Emperor judge the accused.

[edit] Puritans & Radicals

Among the ranks of the Warseers are two opposing philosophies based around how best to combat the heretical forces of the immaterium – the Puritans and the Radicals.

  • Puritans are akin to idealistic fanatical zealots and are utterly uncompromising in their drive to eradicate heresy. Puritans are utterly ruthless paying no heed to calls for compassion dismissing such talk as weakness in the face of heresy. For the Puritan no cost is too great to pay in the persecution of heretics many willing to sanction the deaths of millions of imperial citizens if it means the destruction of a single enemy of the Emperor. In the mind of the Puritan there is no such thing as innocence, only degrees of guilt.
  • Radicals differ from their Puritan brothers in that they believe in fighting fire with fire – they argue that with sufficient strength of will and faith in the Emperor the weapons of the enemy may be used for the betterment of mankind. Radicals will often be seen using weapons and abilities that draw on the powers of the warp be they ‘angelic swords’ or bizarre demon weapons of unimaginable power. Puritans look down on radicals with at best barely contained hate often considering them little better than the heretics they persecute. Despite this Radical Inquisitors invariably hold high ranking positions with the Warseers, indeed it is said that as a Inquisitor’s career progresses it is inevitable that he will eventually cross the line into radicalism. A popular axiom of the Radicals is “Fear denies faith.” for only those with insufficient faith need fear to use the weapons of the enemy.
