Yappie Dogfood Company
From NexusWiki
The Yappie Dogfood Company is one of the most successful local industries in the Saint Germaine Archipelago, producing over a thousand bags of dogfood per day. Its products are exported to over 10 different nations, including the United States.
The company's jingle - If you want your dog to be happy, feed him the best - made by Yappie! - is widely recognized.
[edit] History
Founded in 1959, the Yappie Dogfood Company as a child company of LaMarche Meats as a way to monetize the by-products of the slaughterhouse. After the Second Democratic Uprising, however, increased trade with other nations led to a sharp downturn in the profitability of the LaMarche slaughter trade led to Yappie being spun off into its own corporation in 1974.
LaMarche Meats closed doors in 1978, but Yappie continued to be profitable, buying cheap meats from Haiti and adding in local grown grain fillers. Until the mid-1980s, Yappie Dogfood was only available for purchase in the Carribean and southern Florida. However, in the late 1980s the company began aggressively marketing itself throughout the east coast of the United States.
This proved to be a solid business move, as the company's fortunes improved dramatically and they found themselves producing close to a thousand bags of feed per day.
Despite an ill-advised foray into the production of a short-lived line of cat food in the mid 1990s, the Yappie Dogfood Company has continued to be one of the stars of Saint Germaine commerce.
[edit] The Yappie Logo
The Yappie Dogfood Company has changed its logo several times throughout its history. The first logo, a photograph of a terrier on a blue background, was used between the years 1959 and 1965.
It was replaced with what is considered to be the "classic" Yappie's logo of a cartoon dog licking its chops. This logo was used until 1985, when it was replaced with a more "art deco" style image to coincide with the American launch of the product.
The "deco" version was used for ten years and was again replaced in 1995 with the more colorful, "Happy Puppy" logo. This was a counterpart branding to the company's catfood line, introducing "Yappie the Happy Puppy", who was friends with "Pappi the Cat." However, when the catfood line tanked, the company found itself with an urgent need to rebrand itself, and in 1998, it returned its logo to the "classic" version from 1965 (as an attempt to cash in on the growing nostalgia of generations W and X).
